Default Sig Kougar Wing Fillets

Hi,

I thought some of the more experienced builders in the forum might have an answer for this one.

I'm currently building a Sig Kougar, and I've seen a little information in the forums about using clear silicone caulk to make wing fillets, for a perfectly smooth joint between the wing and fuselage. Does anyone have detailed info on how to do this? It would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!

Forgot to add this in the above post. Is it possible to sand this material smooth once it dries, and can Monokote or Ultrakote be applied over such a fillet?

No you really cant sand silicone RTV. And I seriously doubt you could
get anything to stick to it.

On the Ultra Sport 60 Im scratch building the wing fillets
are made from a base of 1/32 ply glued to the wing saddle
and fitting smoothly up against the wing. On top of this
base the fillet itself is made from lightweight spackling.

This sands very smoothly and makes a nice looking fillet.

For what its worth my old Kougar does not have wing
fillets and it flies terrific. So they are completely optional.

You will like the Kougar. Its fast and responsive and makes
me look a lot better than I really am.

I did a kougar many years ago. I made wing fillets from microballons and finishing resin. I put plastic on the wing, bolted it in place, and shaped the microballons onto the wing at the fuselage. Perfect fit.

Cafeenman's site has a good how-to:

You should really check this site out...tons of good info for model building...

fyi-my Kougar flies fine without fillets...
