LT-40 Dihedral question???
I just bought an lt-40 as my first kit and have both wings built. I'm confused as to the directions when it comes to dihedral measurement. The directions say to set proper dihedral by measuring the left wing tip 3-3/4" off the ground. My question is, from what part of the tip do I measure this (front, side, rear?). I measured from the tip and it is 5-1/2 inches off the ground. I also measured from the end of the bottom of the trailing edge and it is 3-3/4" from the ground, but this dosn't seem right considering this is not the tip or is it considered the tip? Thanks in advance

LT-40 Dihedral question???
make sure you have one end of the wing lying on a flat surface maybe with something on it to keep in place and measure the front of the wing. Its going to fly well with the recommended setting or less......

LT-40 Dihedral question???
First: Do the measurement at the spar with the other wing panel flat on the table. The measurement isn't too critical, so if it says 3 3/4" you're fine 1/4" either way.
Second: The rib that is off the table should also be relatively flat. (i.e. 3 3/4" from the table measured at the front OR back) If you have a 1 3/4" difference, it sounds like your wing is seriously warped unless I'm reading you incorrectly.

LT-40 Dihedral question???
I measured mine by setting one wing flat on the table and then measured the distance from the table to the main spar at the last rib using the wooden gage provided with the kit. It was right on the money but it looked like a whole bunch, so I sanded the ribs at the wing joint until I got it down below 3".
I have been flying the plane for several months now and if I had to do it over again I would take out even more! I'm sure your plane will fly with 5 1/2" but this is a whole lot more than you need. If you haven't glued the wings together yet then I would work on the joint and get it down at least to the 3 3/4" spec.
