Don't want to cast aspersions, but the vertical stab looks a tad under-built on an otherwise gorgeous lay-up. Are you going to brace it with rigid wire rigging?

Always liked the Das Jäger, full size and models. You picked a good project.

Yes, the vertical stab. will have rigid bracing. It is built from spruce and basswood as is the horizontal stabilizer. I have a set of der Jager plans from RCM that I've referenced from for this project. Thank you.

Hay Damifino, I’m getting ready to start a Hog Bipe of my own. Mind if I use some of your ideas and do a similar bash to mine?
Any progress with yours?

John.

His last log in was in '08. He probably won't mind.
Too bad, too. I'd love to see what this Hog turned out like.

damifino are you going to shorten the lower wing to 48" when you get there or leave them both as per plans?

LOL, I saw this thread come up and thought, "I know another guy did this like 5 years ago". Then I looked at the 2006 date and realized it was the same guy! LOL

Yeah it's me, been raising young'uns and working........Got my 7 year old son a trainer and flew it with him on a buddy box this past weekend. Still have the desire just not a lot of time...We'll make some progress this winter. Have decided to cover Der Hawg with fabric and paint it like the rendering.

In response to an earlier post, Yes, I plane to shorten the bottom wing by at last 1 bay per side, maybe 2 per side.
I'm tinkering around with my planes again and would like to think the Hawg Fokker will resume in the coming months. My current deconstruction is a Giant Aeromaster bash into a 'SteerWaco'. (had to keep the farm animal theme, I guess!). I cut the top of fuse to create a dual cockpit turtle deck and plan to shorten the lower wing, build Waco style tail feathers, and round out the fuselage with stringers. I ordered the GA as 'Ready To Cover' so deconstruction commenced as soon as the box was emptied! Power is a Fuji 43 cc..with smoke...stay tuned. I'll create a thread for SteerWaco as time permits.

That is really a cool looking airplane! Definately a one of a kind creation...... And really good to see this bird on the 'Front Page'. I had ran across this thread a number of months back, and wondered if it was ever finished. Good luck and keep banging away on it!

Well it's been almost 13 years ,this month, since this thread was started inquiring minds
would like to know if you ever finished this project or is it sitting in the corner feeling all
neglected and lonely wishing it had wings to fly like all the other airplanes!!!!!!

What say ye "Damifino"...……….
