A HOG BIPE BASH-

RE: A HOG BIPE BASH-
Don't want to cast aspersions, but the vertical stab looks a tad under-built on an otherwise gorgeous lay-up. Are you going to brace it with rigid wire rigging?
Always liked the Das Jäger, full size and models. You picked a good project.

Yes, the vertical stab. will have rigid bracing. It is built from spruce and basswood as is the horizontal stabilizer. I have a set of der Jager plans from RCM that I've referenced from for this project. Thank you.

Yeah it's me, been raising young'uns and working........Got my 7 year old son a trainer and flew it with him on a buddy box this past weekend. Still have the desire just not a lot of time...We'll make some progress this winter. Have decided to cover Der Hawg with fabric and paint it like the rendering.

RE: A HOG BIPE BASH-
In response to an earlier post, Yes, I plane to shorten the bottom wing by at last 1 bay per side, maybe 2 per side.
I'm tinkering around with my planes again and would like to think the Hawg Fokker will resume in the coming months. My current deconstruction is a Giant Aeromaster bash into a 'SteerWaco'. (had to keep the farm animal theme, I guess!). I cut the top of fuse to create a dual cockpit turtle deck and plan to shorten the lower wing, build Waco style tail feathers, and round out the fuselage with stringers. I ordered the GA as 'Ready To Cover' so deconstruction commenced as soon as the box was emptied! Power is a Fuji 43 cc..with smoke...stay tuned. I'll create a thread for SteerWaco as time permits.

That is really a cool looking airplane! Definately a one of a kind creation...... And really good to see this bird on the 'Front Page'. I had ran across this thread a number of months back, and wondered if it was ever finished. Good luck and keep banging away on it!
