Default building the Sig Tri Star

I am going to start building a sig tri star soon. If any one has any tips or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. This will be my first kit with foam wings. I am not sure if I sould go electric or glow.

be careful about how much weight you pile on this model. While I never saw an electric version of the plane it can get really tail heavy quickly. The ones that i had were powered by a TD09 which is really light for a motor and they flew really well.

Thanks,

If I go glow I was thinking of a 25 because it seems easier to find pusher props than the 15. If weight is issue maybe the electric would be the best. I could stick the batteries up front. What was the total weight of yours?

A friend built one froma kit that I gave him. Make it electric with an out runner. On the gas version you will find that the CG changes as you drain the fuel tank, making constant trim changes manditory.

i put a .25 in a tri-star and it was a big mistake. Too much engine, had to add lots of weight in the nose, and it was very difficult to fly.

.15 would be the max engine size i'd recommend.

btw, where'd you get your kit?

I got it off e-bay, 77 bucks. Still in the box though, haven't had the time to build it yet.

John,

I just picked up an OS .15 CV A for my Tri Star. Planning a build my kit soon as well. This engine has lots of power for it's size. Time will tell.

rocannon.

I am contemplating it. I am not to keen on electrics, only the park flyers. Maybe Rocketman612 will do a build thread and I will make my decision after seeing how his .15 turns out. How about it Rocketman612 will you keep us posted?

John,

Yes, I am planning a build thread. Had not found much in the threads using search on the TriStar so one should be worthwhile. Collecting items to start over the next few weeks.
