I jest received my 300s. Is there any thing odd about it that would help in building?

Default Great Planes 60 size 300S kit

You may want to note wether this is this kit or ARF version. I am going to stay tuned to this one as I am thinking of getting the kit myself.

Default Great Planes 60 size 300S kit

I am going to start on mine this week, and I will keep you posted with pics. I can see right away from reviewing the plans that there will be some reinforcement of the landing gear rails. I am sure there will be some other minor stuff such as hardware. But we will see!Read a review in another thread, and it was very positive.

Default Great Planes 60 size 300S kit

I think this is probably the best kit I ever built! I didn't change a thing.

Default x300g[

hi
hope your kit was better than mine. wing sheeting very soft and fragile. had to patch about 24 holes in sheeting just in handling. I think the worst wood in kit I have ever bought. when finished it is a great flyer however.
good luck.
think however this is my last GP kit for awhile. wrote GP and no reply regarding comments on kit quality.

This kit was designed to be LIGHT! The sheeting is thinner than most other kits so don't go handling it like 2x4's.

Default Great Planes 60 size 300S kit

I am currently building this kit. It is my first kit to build and I must say it has been a great one. It builds real easy. As far as the wood quality I thought mine was all real good. Like already mentioned the wing is sheeted with thin balsa, so you have to be careful handling it. I opted to replace the abs cowl and pants with fiberglass, but other than that it will be stock. I have a Saito 100 for power. He is a pic of mine this far.

Default Great Planes 60 size 300S kit

Excellent airplane to build. I built one last winter as my second kit. Only downfall on this kit was the cowl and pants as well as the thin wing sheeting. You can say it was to help reduce weight but mine came out super heavy at 8lbs 5oz. I posted a step by step of the building process at http://www.********.net/forums/showt...?threadid=1198 if anyone wants to read it. Unfortunatly I seem to have lost some of the pictures.

Saito 100 is a perfect engine for this airplane... you've also did great by getting a fiberglass cowl and pants.

Also if you see one of these you know it was built because they don't offer the .60 size in ARF form.

Here is a picture of mine:

Default My Extra

I too have built this plane. I maidened it 2 weeks ago and have about 10 flights on it so far. Excellent flyer and solid in the air. I decided to go to the limit on power so I opted for the O.S. 1.20 Surpass III. This enging coupled with a 16X6 prop gives unlimited vertical performance. Downline braking is excellent and really helps it land slowly. I knew from my motor selection that I would have a nose heavy situation so I moved the servos to the tail (2X elevator). For the rudder I installed the rods as per plans but used pull pull cables instead of the rod. Mine balanced perfectly with no lead and the battery at the aft most part to the radio compartment. You will be very happy with the flight characteristics of this plane! I did get the Stans Cowl and I would highly reccomend doing so. A lot lighter and 10X better.

GP Extra 300S
O.S. 1.20 Surpass III (Pumped)
16X6 Zinger Pro Propeller
Futaba 8U for control
3 - 9202 servos (2 on ailerons and 1 on rudder)
2 - 3004 on elevator (1 on each half and mounted in the rear)
1 - 3004 on the throttle
1000 Mah flight pack
Balanced with no lead!
