I would really like to have a Shoestring. As far as I
know there isnt a way to get one now short of
scratchbuilding one yourself. I may have to do
exactly that.

OK, I know I wrote the thread about ARF's Why Not Kit's, but I did buy a 30% Yak 54 From TOC1. I really like the plane even though I haven't been able to afford to buy the $1400.00 that it will take to get it set up right. I would like to see all of TOC1's planes sold as kits, so that you could modify them and cover them how you wanted to. I have to admit that TOC1 is a very good ARF builder!

I'd like to see a kit of the Hanger-9 Twist. Of course, that company doesn't do kits. Then again, the ARF is only a hundred bucks; that's less than a kit plus covering, etc. The ARF version actually isn't too bad, I just hate that covering scheme.

Chuck,
Why don't you just remove the covering and check out the construction and cover it in any sceme you like.

I hear it all the time.(and I have to agree) All the good planes are ARF's. So, what ARF(s) would you like to see as a kit?

I would like to see all the planes that used to be kitted and were dropped to make them ARF's returned as kits again.

They're still producing the kit - to make the ARF, why discontinue it as a kit?

Actually the ARF's are not just prebuilt kits. The parts count for the ARF is much lower. They normally eliminate about 1/4 to 1/3 of the ribs, and the formers as well. They use sheeting in most cases, and they drop several of the stringers and longerons as well. You really can't say that the arf is produced from the kit.

GP PT-17, Super Stearman, Giant Aeromaster or Giant Super Sportster - laser cut. ARFs are great, but sometimes it's nice to slow down and build while we are flying our ARF's!

It's funny, I find the opposite true. I'm out flying my kit built planes while my ARF's are in need of repair. - Loose landing gear, need to re-glue the firewall, fix the covering, re-enforce the fin.....
I'm done buying ARF's. They're too much work! [:'(]

I was beginning to think that I was the only fan of this kit. I loved mine, but when it comes to second plane recommendations, no one ever mentions this plane.
