building frame for glass topped table
I got a nice commercial tempered glass door, 80x30"
What the best way to make a flat table frame to hold the glass ?
I have been told that it is best to support the glass on few points
as opposed to a sheeted ply table top and resting the glass on this since the glass will take the shape of the tabletop

An easy and fairly quick way, if you have access to a router or table saw would be to cut 2x4s (mitered) to proper length and cut a notch in the top of the 2x4s the depth = to thickness of the glass x half the width of the 2x4 which is 3/4".
Screw the frame together and install bracing every 2' or so flush with the bottom of the notch after you rip 3/4" off the width of the braces and screw on some legs and you got it.
