Yep. I use a butane fueled torch all the time. It is a must have tool on the workbench if you ask me. I got a cheapie from Harbor Freight, mostly because it has an integrated piezo ignitor instead of having to be lit by a lighter. It also stands up by itself, unlike the little pencil torches.

I use it to do soldering, shrinking heat shrink tubing and a bunch of other stuff.

I also mentioned in another post that they are handy for heating up the head on the engine when you decide to go flying when it's subzero out...lol....for those of us in the northern states.

Yep, Cleared4Crash, you are right. I use one all the time in the winter.

MicroMark makes an excellent small torch which I use for soldering landing gear wires. Take a look at www.micromark.com/ and search for part no. 60395.
And it carries plenty of fuel.

I use my small torch all the time also. Don't know how I could build without it. Got mine at Radio Shack. costs $19.95 and has a torch tip and soldering tip. This tool comes in handy at the flying field, especially for making soldering repairs to wire. IMHO it's a must have in any field box.
