I know I have plans down stairs for a CAP 21, but I'm not sure if it's G.P. I will get back to you tomorrow. The plans I do have is for a .46 size.

hmmm a "Snap 21?" I think i've got a set. I'll try to get them scanned and put up on here, if I can find them. just remember one thing... they didn't call them 'snap' 21's for no reason, they really don't like to be horsed around, especially turning final!

Be careful not to stall it either. I was doing a loop with a friend's and got a little slow on top. He yells "what a great avalanche." The problem was, I didn't do it, the "snap 21" did it all on its own! Good luck.

I've dug around, can't seem to find them... but I do have the tail feathers! They're attached to a plaque and stuck on the shop wall. It was the biggest part left after one of it's famous un-expected manuvers. Actually, I'd have to blame it on out of airspeed, altitude, and talent. They really fly pretty well, as long as you give them some respect and keep the airspeed up. don't expect them fly anything hi-alpha, they'll snap in a heartbeat!

I built one and have flown it. I still have it, I will see if I can find the plans. Mine has not snapped on me.
I am flying it with a Super Tiger 90 4stroke. It flies great. I extended the nose 1" when I built it. Also make sure the CG is right on. Also keep the elevator down per instructions. My elevator moves about 3/8". also I have my exponetial at -55 on a Futaba radio. When you are landing keep some power on it until final approach and let it come down and you should not have any problems. I have landed mine turning on final with power off and it did not snap. If you haven't got the plans when you read this thread let me know and I will look for them.

I also had the same one, 40 size. I must have flown it 60 to 70 times. It never snapped on me. I made sure that it wasn't tail heavy, and I kept the elevator throw down.

I also have a CG Extra 300. Too much elevator and that one will snap also.

Yep it is the great planes cap 21. I dont know if I am supposed to call it a 90 size or 120 size the ws is 73'? I dont have any plans yet.

This cap has the wing saddle reinforced and a fillet so there is more of the wing saddle against the wing.

Which motor would be a better choice? YS 120 or a YS .91. They both run great and the plane seems really light. I would like to make it an everyday (low G force) flier.

I had a great planes 1/4 scale giles 202 and hated the flying characteristics of it. I hope the Snap 21 is better. I dont have any landing gear for it and was thinking of getting a carbon fiber set.

Thanks for the input.

I just checked to Great Planes web site and they made 2 sizes of the Cap 21. They made a 60 and a 40 size. I have the 40 kit. The instruction manual is a 28 page booklet and the plans are a single sheet with both the fusealage and the wings all on the same sheet. According to the manual the 40 size has a 60 inch wing and needs a 40 ro 45 for power. The fuselage is listed as being 48 inches long. Let me know if I am on the right page, Thanks Dave

I guess this must be the 60 size. It is one of the biggest 60 size planes I have ever seen. Are the cowls on the 40 and 60 both made of wood? This one is but it might have been some one that was a lot more crafty than myself to make one. The wing span is 72" and the fuse length is roughly 53" or so.

The 60 size flew great. The smaller one would snap if you looked cross-eyed at it.
I'd love to get plans for the 60 sometime.

Thunder Tiger 91 4 stroke flies it great at 4200 ft elevation. The YS 91 should be just right. The YS 91 is a little heavier which should help so you don't have to add weight to the nose. The 61 GP Cap comes out tail heavy if you are not careful.

I`ve got one of these kits NIB, the larger one, gathering dust under the bench and I intend to get a round to it sometime. I`ve also got a set of plans only for the smaller one. If you get stuck for them I am able to help.

I`ve heard all these 'snap' comments from all over before. Query - seeing the build hasn`t started yet, what mods should I consider doing to it to alleviate the problem?

I am just guessing that a person does not want them really tail heavy. I would also reinforce the saddle with fiberglass, a person could also fiber glass the inside of the fuse above the wing so that it does not break under high G's.. Since the planes seem really light or at least mine is a person can add some structural strength and use a motor 120 4 stroke and probably have a really nice scale aerobatic plane. I have not flown mine. Still needing some planes so I know where to install the servos and the CG. I would also recommend carbon fiber landing gear to help on the weight as well. Just my 5 cents.
