Sig Somethin' Extra Building Question
I'm working on a Sig SE kit. So far, one of the wing panels is covered, and half the fuse. However, I have possibly a really dumb question. How did those who built this airplane cut (the monocote) for the servo openings on the wing? I didn't see it anywhere in the manual, and I can't seem to come up with a good way to do it.
Could someone please post a pic of the finished process?
Thanks,
Patrick

SE aileron servo
no such thing as a dumb question.
Go ahead and cover the entire panel bottom, including the servo bay, without the servo installed. Trim the monokote along the inside edge of the servo bay capstripping to reopen the bay. It makes for a clean looking edge. If you like, you can paint inside the bay to match your scheme. I just sealed the interior with some thin CA to protect from fuel residue. Install the servo and its done. Best of luck!

Sig Somethin' Extra Building Question
This is a great flying plane and you'll really like it once you are used to it. Just a couple of things you should know...Use the low rates on elevator and aileron to get started then go from there. Also reinforce the landing gear block with some triangle stock to keep it from ripping out on a rough landing. What motor are you gonna use?

Sig Somethin' Extra Building Question
I mount the servo so the arm is just above the rib. I then cover the wing with out the arm . After it is covered and skunked .I use my ungar soldering iron .When hot I just touch the top of the output gear . It will burn thru the covering exposeing the out put gear, then put the arm on .It looks geart,
.You don't have to have the servo exposed.

byjoe - great idea. I think I'll try that. Say, how do you get the servo in there if you cover before mounting the servo? :stupid: Whoops...

bgi,
I believe byjoe stated that the servo is first mounted with the
servo arm just above the surface of the wing, then remove the
arm and cover right over the servo and then burn a hole through
the covering exposing the servo shaft. Sounds like a winner to
me. Thanks.

Sig Somethin' Extra Building Question
I 1st install the servos and align everything then remove them, cover the wing and shrink the film, then, cut just as Minnflyer does, iron down into the servo well to reinforce the edges of the covering and reinstall the servs.
