Sukhoi SU-26
Just completed a build on a Carl Goldberg Sukhoi SU-26. The plane replaces one I crashed a month ago. It is my third Sukhoi and is powered with a Moki 1.8 CID using a pitts style muffler. The radio is a JR and has 4131 servos. A pull pull system on the rudder with individual servos for each elevator and each aieleron.
I plan to fly this plane as soon as the weather here in Savannah, Ga. will allow. The vertical on this plane with the Moki is unbelievable. There is not a manouver it cannot perform.
I also fly a Carl Goldberg Bucker Jungmann with a Saito 1.8 four stroke. Vertical not a problem here also. This plane is seven years old and I hope the Sukhoi lasts at least that long also.
Happy flying to all,
Jim Clausen

Hi Jim. Its good to see another one ready to go. Do you have any photo's of your plane? Where did you mount your two elevator servo'c and where is C of G at from the leading edge? I'm just finishing up mine. Power will be from a Satio 180. I'm just getting ready to clearcoat plane. I still have to paint the cowl and belly pan. Bob

Bob,
I will post pictures tomorrow, weather allowing, or just take it where the plane is hung from the ceiling in my building room. More information tomorrow.

RE: Sukhoi SU-26
Hi Rob,
I am responding to your request for pictures and CD location. First let me say that I always start with a nose heavy Sukhoi. I have the CG on the first outing 1.500 inches in front of the main spar. After several flights I start moving the 300 ma/hr battery pack aft a little at a time.
I have attached pictures for you to view and have one comment about the Saito 180. I went to a 16-6 Semitar prop because I needed to reduce torque on my Bucker Jngmann. I started off with a Mejzlik 16-8 and it torqued left so bad it was difficult to accelerate on a vertical, tried a Master Airscrew 16-6 wood and it improved and wound up with the Semitar. No more issues on torque.
Hope this helps,

Hi Jim. It looks good. I was thinking about painting a red nose on the cowl there too. I'm just trying to get a feel for everyone who built and flew these planes. Thanks for the info on the c of g and prop size on the 180. That engine must get some pretty good rpm's with that prop. I haven't had too much experience with this engine. I see you have your elevator servo's mounted on the back too.
