Default 1/5 scale super cub engine cowl?

Hey guys - I'm getting ready to start on my Sig 1/5 scale Anniversary Cub kit and would like to convert it from a J3 to a Super Cub. I'm planning to do a bush plane, with Dubro 6" inflatable tires (tundra tires), flaps, and cowl. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anyone selling a 1/5 scale super cub cowl. I'm hoping someone out there has a good suggestion for me on where to find one. Alternatively, I may have to make one myself - anyone ever done this and have any construction tips?

Thanks a bunch!

I've got a Great Planes Super cub cowl which they sold as an accessory to their 40 size cub a few years ago. It fits my Hangar 9 1/5 scale cub pretty well, but I didn't use it.
I would sell for $10 and shipping if interested. Could email pictures if I had your email address.......... PM me, again, if interested.

Thanks for this, but that thread deals with the 1/4 scale cub, for which there are a ton of folks making super cub cowls. Am I missing something?

No problem - actually, I was hoping I had missed something in that thread that would help me.

7KINGS,

You may want to look at Fiberglass Specialties. They have a Super Cub cowl for the Great Planes .60 size Cub kit and I think the specs on the Great Planes kit is close to the SIG kit.

Thanks Dan. I actually sent an email to them asking if they had anything that would fit, but their response was a big fat "no". I know the GP 60 is something like 90 inches on the wing, so I'm not sure how well it would fit. I can't believe that nobody makes a 1/5 cowl.

Well it was worth a try anyway. I don't know if you'll get ta different answer, but you can try this company:

http://stansfibertech.com/products.html

They don't list what you're after but they do make a couple of SUper Cub conversion cowls and might have more information to give besides just saying no.

Consider yourself very fortunate, based on my experience.

Fiberglass Specialties show a Super Cub cowl GP-19 at $25.00 for the GP 40 Cub. They don't stock it?

If interested, I have one of those Fiberglass Specialties Super Cub cowls for the GP 60 CUB and could take some measurements if you would like. Frankly though, it is not very scale looking and I'm not going to use it on my project.
