Default Adding mechanical retracts to a Killer Kaos

Hi,
Does anyone have any pictures of Killer Kaos ( or any Kaos ) under construction with retracts? I am building a Killer Kaos and would like to install mechanical retracts. It would be nice to see someone else's implementation before spending a lot of time designing myself.

Thanks
CASniffer

Dear Sniffer,...

I built the Tower Kaos 40 with retracts. I made a lot of other modifications to the kit; changed the shape of the tail feathers to look like the Killer Kaos, side mounted a Saito 72, and used a Dirty Birdy canopy (hence the name "Dirty Kaos"). I'll try to post the pictures I have of the landing gear installation. Don't know if they will show enough detail, but feel free to ask and questions you have. I'll do my best to answer them.

Sincerely,
Steve T.

Sniffer,...

Here are the pictures of the mechanical retract installation.

Hope this helps.

P.S. I've got more photos of the construction; however these are the only ones I scanned into the computer, and right now my scanner is not working. Therefore if you really need more visual information, I might be able to send you the duplicate prints (assuming I can find those, ha!!).

Sniffer,...

These are the remaining construction photos that I've scanned into the computer. Like I said, I've got plenty more actual "hardcopy" prints of the construction, its just I can't get them scanned at this time. Stupid scanner is not cooperating.

Thanks for the pictures. That gives me a good starting point. The struts are too long and need to be shortened. I need to fabricate some ribs to flank the cutout for the wheel well, bend some balsa for the wheel well and make a mount for the retracts. It certainly complicates the construction, but worth the effort.

Steve T.,
Sweet looking Kaos, by the way!
Does your Kaos exhibit the "tail wag" at high speed?
Thanks

Steve M.

My Dirty Kaos is powered by a Saito 72 four stroke swinging (I believe) a 14 X 4 APC (if there is such a thing?). Therefore I'm not looking for high speed just lots of torque to climb and power through tall vertical manuvers. In fact with that 14 X 4 I get tons of braking on down lines!! You can almost see the plane slow down when the power is pulled back in a dive!!

My point is,... I've never witnesses the "tail wag" that you mentioned, but then again I've never gone all out and flown at high speed. Hope that answers your question, (sort of), ha!!

Feel free to fire any more questions that I can answer in a round-about way.

Sincerely,
Steve T.
