sig 1/4 scale cub
I am building a 1/4 scale piper cub ,and it shows a door cut out on plans.the doorcut out is in front of former 6.I would like to build this plane with opening door &window but I`m worried about the strength around former 6 cuz thats where the wing sets.If any one can help me I`d like to hear from ya. A pic or drawing would sure help.I have built 10 planes so far but this door cut out has me worried.Ive done alot of reserch, and plan on doing the cockpit as realistic as possable(making throttle, gas on-off trim lever&canvass sling seats, fuel tank ect) and want door& window to open, but I want to fly her also.

RE: sig 1/4 scale cub
The formers help support the wing center section, and the cabin sheeting gives torsional strength to the fuse. The BUSA 1/4 scale shows the door on their plans and the 1/5 Sig Cub also builds with the functional door and window. If you want to add some reinforcement to the formers in the way of carbon fiber strips, it wouldn't hurt a thing, though. You can also build the wing struts to be functional, and they will transfer much of the wing loads to the bottom of the cabin structure.
