I increased my elevator and rudder by 1 1/4 inch. If I could do it agian I would counterbalance both of them as well.
DO NOT INSTALL THE RUDDER BEFORE THE ELEVATORS

I'm still finishing mine up so take what I have said with a grain of salt. Also have the Irnive .53, not yet run it so can't tell you anything about it.

Do a search in this forum for "Somethin Extra" "SE" or any variant thereof. There are litteraly dozens and dozens of pages with discussions on this model just waiting for you to look for them.

Me, I'm almost ready to cover mine and I built it totally stock except for swapping out the tail wheel going with pull/pull cables on the rudder and split elevators instead of joined.

I've flown mine a lot - the tailwheel assembly that comes with it is not strong enough, replace it with a Sullivan or something like that. The throws that are suggested are PLENTY, if anything start with the minumum recommendations.

Ditto on the tailwheel. Be sure you get the elevator and rudder tubes to come out in the correct (upper/lower) slots.

Most install a Saito 72 on this bird as this engine is just a tad bit heaver than most 2 stroke 46's with way more power available. this is the best 40 size bird for general flying at the field, as you will be flying inverted a foot off the deck in no time.

Default tip's something extra

I am building a SE also and and have built a 4* 40 as well and as that are all most the same. some thing's i learnd form my 4*
I may suggest a doubler to reinforce the top 1/4 stringer from the head rest
to the tail. put a reinforceing piece ascross the rear of the landing gear block,i use 4 10x24 nylon bolt's on the landing gear 3 across the front and one to the rear.
and a 12oz soft sided tank.it fit's real nice. it just stick's threw the rear former a bit further.i think it was a Sullivan.
happy flying
Rich
