Here's some pics of my re-cover in progress. I'm finishing up building new interplane struts and put it together for a test fit... I like the way it looks "naked".

Can anyone think of a reason to not put the smoke pump where I have it? I'm going to cushion it with a little foam and zip-tie it in there. I managed to make the hatch just barely big enough to sneak it in.

I still have to clean up the hatch. The balsa I used is a little soft, so I'll reinforce the edges with some 1/16" hard balsa, that should clean it up a bit and make it fit a little tighter.

Deadeye, like Chrismh said I'm a fan of four strokes. I borrowed that line from another RCU member in regards to a post about 2 vs 4 strokes.... I have (5) YS, (3) satios and (2) OS 4 stroke engines.... I like all my engines, each brand falls in a certain category for my style of flying.

Thanks Surf, maybe I'll give that a try.

micagreenmachin, are you designing a new strut to attach to the wing or making new ones from the old plans?

I'm asking because I need to come up with something different to attach them. Right now I'm thinking of adding some tabs to both wings like what Spanishflyer has done but I'm also looking at other options.

Thanks guys for all the great posts. This exchange and flow of ideas is what I had hoped for.

Micagreenmachine..........I believe a lot of the guys put their smoke pumps in that exact location. Should work great!!!

I'm re-building them from plans. They worked great for me, but I didn't do a good job building them the first time and they started to look shabby.

biplanemurphy:
Awesome! I definitely won't need any noseweight then.

Hi Murph,

I don´t know the name of that thing in english, but the manufacturer is KATO MODEL AIRCRAFT CO. LTD.
I think they don´t have web site. Here in Spain there is a dealer that sells this brand and is easy to get this products. It costs about 38 Euros.
Ask your local dealer.

Spanishflyer

Murph,
Central Hobbies has them, look under 'Control Linkage'. It's a great device, nice quality. I have one on my CG Extra.

I just ordered a Skybolt and was planning to do lazy Sunday style areobatics. I was considering the super tigre .75 and was wondering if it would be enough power. any help or suggestions would be great.

I was looking at the lanier ultimate pitts, but it has no hardware, so I decided on the skybolt.

I think that would be powerful.
The weight will help it balance well.(the skybolt is tail heavy)
the ST 2300 weighs about what my OS1.20 surpassIII wighs.

3.7 horsepower and for only $150.00(tower)------It'll be a screamer!!

I wish I had a little more poop in my engine myself!!

If you are an intermediate level pilot I think It would be great.
But I like a really overpowered plane myself!!

You would probably have to really chop up the cowl to make it fit!!!

I'd go for a 1.00NX. Same price and more power .

I like the evo....had one in my easy sport a few years ago. Great running motor, but can you get a pitts style muffler for it ?

It sure looks sweet.....I like how you preheated the oil with the muffler. I think the Super Tigre 90 with a pitts will be my setup.....trying to save some coin for the other stuff......I want mine to be smokin too. When I ordered my SB, tower listed it as limited quantitys available, and after I ordered it, the stock status went to late Feb ! Looks like I got the last one for a while. I'm glad I didn't wait.........my wife wasn't happy.

My Skybolt arrived today ! I checked the stock status at tower again today and it is back in stock. I can't wait to start this kit, but am currently building a Rapture, so I wont be able to start right away. I have enjoyed reading the build thread from Mods r me. and the part about pre heating the smoke. I hope the super tigre 90 will be hot enough to make good smoke.

Hello to all you Skybolt lovers. I just finished an ARF with a Saito .82.This is my first biplane an what a beauty!! I had a problem with the CG.I moved the battery under the fuel tank as far forward as I could and it still took 10 oz. of lead screwed to the firewall to balance it. this realy concerned me as I have never had to use so much lead. In reading this forum this seems to be a typicaly tail heavy plane. I hate to have so much DEAD WEIGHT and was thinking about a Saito 125. has anyone used this motor in the Skybolt ARF? This plane was love at first flight. Any info and advise will be apreciated. Thanks, Butch.

Hi Butch....I don't have the arf...I have the kit with an O.S. 120 surpass III.....I think the arf with a 125 saito would be sweet....thats a light engine for the displacement......You would probably get unlimited vertical performance!!!!!

Murph.......
