What Engine did you put in your 60 Ultra sport

RE: What Engine did you put in your 60 Ultra sport
I built mine from the RCM plans and outfitted it with an
old reliable OS 61SF. Its all the power it needs. Im
very happy with the combo.
If I was building another and needed to purchase a new
engine for it I would go for the Tower 75. Best engine
for the money out there.

RE: What Engine did you put in your 60 Ultra sport
Bankyank,
The one I am fixing for my brother has a pumped K&B 61 in it. I am considering sending the motor to Clarance Lee and having him Perry Directional Port the cylinder, since I have to send him the motor anyway to have a new diaphram put in it. I haven't made up my mind what motor I want in mine yet. It's either going to be a YS61 two stroke (if I can find one) or maybe a Jett Engineering 61..
Fly safe and have fun!!

I have had three US 60's and have used OS 61 with muffler, tuned pipe and tuned muffler. I liked the tuned muffler best, but the setup was hard on glow plugs. Last model used ST .75. Performance similar to 61 and tuned muffler, but plugs last for a long time.

Thanks guy's looks like a OS75AX is a decent choice.
Anyone using these retracts? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMJJ9&P=0

Mine has an OS 61SF in it with a Macs muffler. It's a pretty old setup all around but worked very well until I had a nice hard landing that did some unsavory damage.

Bankyank,
While I may be undecided on what engine to use, I am DEFINITELY putting retracts in mine.

Gonna use an OS 65LA simply because I've got one in the closet waiting for a firewall. Have a set of MinnFlyer's retracts as well. It's going to be a while before I start it, though. Got several projects ahead of it.

Well after doing some more looking around im now undecided between the GP 60 kit or should i get the plans from RC Modeler for the US1000. The OS75AX i need to buy as well as the kit, Retracts and a roll or two of covering.
For the US1000 i already have a OS1.60FX sitting here.Would need to get Retracts, roll or two of covering,Plans,Wood. Cutting the kit is no problem and should take 3-4day's
Servos i have for either one. Guess i need to decide as tomorrow im ordering.

I have an US 40+ with a Super Tiger 90 and it is just about right. I would imagine with the US 60 you might want more power. I like the 40US and it performs vertical as if it were horizontal but I wouldn't call it over powered. I did lengthen the fuse about three inches to handle the extra torque and power and weight. It isprobally is about the same length as the 60 now. It is one sweet flyer.

RE: What Engine did you put in your 60 Ultra sport
I know some people are all for 2 stroke on the Ultra Sport, but I am switching to all 4 stroke on my models and plan on putting a Saito 100 in my Ultra 60

Saito 100 should be just fine.
I have had them all 2st, 4st, gassers, electric, in just about every kind of plane you can imagine in the last 6 or so years. THANKFULLY im down to likeing the smaller(85WS or less) planes and staying glow power.
Some i like 2st on, Some are better 4st. This one is getting the 2st treatment [8D]
I started a build thread so jump in if ya want. I'll leave the light on
