RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
Hello!
Yes i am going to build them. The Hyde-away finished, and is my everyday flying airplane. The Moth minor and the Super qb 25 is almost finished.
I have not yet deside wich sould be the next kit that i start on. I have been thinking on starting on the Christen Eagle.

Morwan,
The Pilot drawings have exact details and also part templates drawn on them. Would you consider making full size copies of the drawings for me? I would of course pay for them and shipping to Romania.

Hello Red_Jeepster!
If it is possible for you to pay by paypal, that will be no problem to make some copies for you! I will check how muce it will cost to make them.

Paypal is just fine. I set it up before I moved to Romania from USA.
Cessna 152 and Piper Tomahawk plans would be great.
These do have the templates on the back of the plans as I remember, correct?

I will check the plans for you! I think you are right about the templates, Pilot did it that way on almost any kit they made.

Morwan,
I only have one Pilot kit left, it is the .40 size Beachcraft Staggerwing.
I wish I would have at least kept the plans from my earlier kits!

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
But the Beachcraft Staggerwing will be a nice airplane from the earlyer days of Pilot. I try to keep the plans for all the airplanes that i have buildt. Pilots plans are nice because they almost always have printed the parts layout on one of the sides of the plan.

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
Morwan,
I have a Pilot FW-190 kit. Er,...still unstarted. But, I also acquired what I *think* might be a completed Moth Minor fuselage. (See Picture below.) No wings came with it, unfortunately.
Since your Moth Minor is nearing completion, could you confirm what I have is a pilot Moth Minor? The fuse I have is about 4 feet long. (~1.2 M).
I'm searching for wing plans for it, if you haven't guessed.
Cheers,

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
Hello Lloyd!
The picture show a nice Pilot Moth Minor, for sure! I have the plans for the wing, they are not in the best shape. Some writing and glue spots on it, but it will not be any problem to copy and send them to you. In return i could be interested in a copy of the plans for the FW-190, what do you say about that?
I try to post a picture of My Me 109G and the Cessna 152
I was not able to post pictures, anyone now how this work?

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
Morwan,
I'll investigate making copies of the FW 190 plans. They're as new in in the box. Maybe Kinko's can do it? It's for engine size 19-25-35 2S and 20-35-40 4S.
What size engine is recommended for the Moth Minor?
Cheers,

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
Hello Lloyd!
The FW-190 you have are exact the same size as mine Me-109E, together they will be some really nice german fighters..
If you are sellling your FW, please let me know.
The engine recommendations for the Moth Minor is 40-45 2-cycle and 60-90 4-cycle. I think i am going to power mine whit a OS 70 4-stroke or a Saito 91, but i think the Saito is to powerfull for this plane.
Here are one picture of the Moth Minor on the kits box and one picture of the plans for the plane.

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
I have the Pilot QB40S and the Spit and Hurricane.
Currently building the QB40S (nice, semi-symmetrical, shoulder wing), although I did start the kit in the 90's (perhaps even before the factory burned down...) I am looking forward to finishing it soon (Quick build is the name, not a guarantee!)

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
I think the QB 40 series are better flyer than the 25 series. The qb 40s is verry similar in design to my California 28 kit.
The spit and the Hurricane are som really good looking Pilot planes. They are verry rare, so don,t sell unless you get a verry good price!
Here are some pictures from the Pilot catalog.

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
Hello again Morwan,
I really like the FW kit and hope to build it one day. I'm not ready to part with it at this time, sorry. You're right though. It would look fabulous sitting beside the Me 109. Certainly good enough for a photo op! Perhaps you'd like to sell me your kit?
Thanks very much for posting those plans. I did note some possible differences with the construction of mine.
1 - The rudder in the plans has an L shaped hinge line. While mine is a straight top to bottom hinge line.
2 - The turtle deck behind the cockpit has a large block of expanded foam internally. Did your kit have that?
3 - The cowling on mine is straight cut, while the plans show an angle at the fuse join.
4 - Your plans show fuse bulkheads, formers, and stringers. My example has none of those!
5 - My tail group is made of solid sheet balsa. Pilot plans show built up construction.
Can you confirm your fuse is 1.2 meters long? Is the wing root cord 31 cm?
This fuse of mine does not appear to have ever flown. It has an un-drilled CB-80 motor mount, Futaba FP-S15 servos (from the 70's), that look to be the only ones ever mounted in the fuselage. Its history is still a mystery.
Still, your plans offer the best hope I've found for building a wing for mine, even if I have to scale them in size.
Cheers,

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
Hello!
The differences you mention are correct. I also se that your plane has a different angel at the top of the rudder. I did not have the block of expanded foam on mine plan.
My fuse is 1,75 centimeter long. I can not messure the wing root now, i am at work and my plans are at home..! I will check this for you. The engine mount on mine kit is all built up of wood, as often on Pilot kits.
Could your plane be a Miles Magister?
Here are on picture of a Miles Magister and one of Moth Minor

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
Morwan,
I don't think mine is a Miles Magister. The horizontal stab and elevator have that characteristic de Havilland eliptical outline. I'm guessing it was a stand off scale offering popular in the 70's. But, it doesn't seem like it was from a pilot kit after all. (sigh)
Thanks for the information!

RE: How many Pilot kits do you have?
Morwan,
While I would LIKE to have those plans, I'm thinking the costs to copy and ship between California and Norway might be of some discomfort.
Kinko's wants $9.50 for the large plan, and $4.50 each for the smaller, parts list and Builder's Guide sheets. USPS wants either $30 or $40 to ship plans, as far as I can tell. I'm trying to fit a $60 piece of large paper into my happy place and it just isn't there yet.
I do have a Nikon 2M pixel camera and expect I can make pretty decent high res. pics of the plans. (fold creases might be a challenge)
Might we be able to exchange through Email? I can then simply project the image on a piece of paper on the wall and trace the lines by hand at any scale I wish.
What do you think?
Cheers,
