Spacewalker II flaps?
I'm going to start my Spacewalker II soon and I'm considering adding flaps.
Anyone built or been exposed to a Spacewalker with flaps?

RE: Spacewalker II flaps?
Mine's not a Spacewalker II but for what it's worth, my 1/3 scale doesn't need flaps at all. It will slow down to a fast walk for landing with no bad tendencies whatsoever. The plane is truly a gentle giant. You might experiment with using your ailerons as flaperons and droop them a bit for landing but I can't imagine needing to do even that.

RE: Spacewalker II flaps?
Thanks for the info GGB. There's probably not much difference in the flying characteristics between the two versions. I'm glad to hear that it does in fact behave like a *****cat when you want it to.
Flaperons seem to create some strange behavior in planes so I thought I might add flaps instead. The wing configuration easily lends itself to the modification. However, since the full size doesn't use them and neither does yours, maybe I'd better give it some more thought before making the change.

RE: Spacewalker II flaps?
My recommendation is - Don't bother with the work involved.
We've had a few Spacewalkers - Mostly the II's. My son did try fitting flaps to one but as GGB said - they really don't need them. They are able to fly so slow that they just float on down.
Now if you really want to "kit bash" one - try fitting retracts, Glass the wing joint, Change the control rods to some stiffer ones so that the control surfaces aren't overpowering the rod and put the most powerful engine you can in it. They are great fun for "fast" low level passes and because they are so inherently stable, they tend to self correct if you go "thumbs off". - I used a Jett 61 in mine but I didnt actually have retracts - I just left the undercarriage off altogether. If you do this, you will only want "low rates" for the higher speed.
