Default Covering ABS

I'm building a Smith Miniplane. It comes with an ABS headrest. Its about 5 inches long. Is there a way to cover it with Ultracote? The piece is fairly thick, maybe 1/32 inch. My fear is the heat gun or iron will melt it. I thought about just glueing it on but I'm afraid there would be many small wrinkles......any ideas?

Thanks for the advise. I think I'll try covering it in the normal fashion with the idea that I'll carve one if the original is damaged. I really do want it a contrasting color and I know I can't get the right color paint for it.

You should be able to cover it, just watch the heat. Some balsarite will help, but is not neccessary.
