Default Engine question for TF Cessna 182 kit

I was thinking about using the Zenoah 20EI gas engine in my Top Flite Cessna 182. Has anybody done this yet or do you think this is too much engine for this plane. My plane will probably be on the upper weight range as I will have all the extras, lights, cockpit interior etc.

Thanks
Tim

I have built 2 of them. One plane jane the other with all the bells/whistles...Both were powered with OS91FS engines. They were plenty of power. I do not know anything about the G20EI but the info might help.

I have an SPE 26 I was actually considering putting in this plane but after running it on a test bench I think it may be more than the plane can handle. I wasn't looking to overpower it, I'm simply trying to go to mostly gasoline engines. Now that the 20EI has come out, I am seriously considering this engine instead. It looks like it will fit inside the cowling with little to no cutting and it should provide plenty of power.

The only issue I can think of (that I have taken care of already) is having the receiver that close to the engine. This is assuming you place it where the plans suggest. I have decided to put the receiver back behind the rear seat and have moved my rudder and elevator servos back to the rear of the plan. Hopefully this will help reduce any interference caused by the electronic ignition.

Later,
Russ

Russ,

Thanks for the info. I am looking at going to mainly gas engines also. Post pictures of your plane once you have finished it.

Tim
