Default Getting ready to start building the Dazzler

I will be starting to build the Dazzler this weekend, is there any last minute tips from any of you guys on this kit I should know about ahead of time? Look pretty straight forward, but would like any input you might have before I go for it?

I have built 2 Dazzler kits and I installed a screw attached hatch at top for access to tank. I used hard balsa stringers for turtleback, and rudder. What I didn't do but heard from some on RCU was to: install engine far back in engine mount since aircraft tends to be nose heavy (good idea) and use a built up landing gear to replace the wire type landing gear. The wire landing gear spreads easily but I only need to adjust once or twice a year. I also heard someone on RCU say to extend the balsa planking on the wing out to the next rib to reduce the the mid resonance sound. I didn't do that either. Some install larger rudders, I didn't.

hard balsa?
I have noticed there is a difference in balsa that comes with kits, but is there a "hard" balsa that can be had at the LHS?

ecajberry:
nothing wrong with keeping your dazzler light!!
Build 1/2 in bigger elev & 1 in. bigger rudder, also you may cut a bigger "V" in the ele to allow for more rudder movement.
t the radio comparment hatch needs to be reinforce where the wood srews go & the tip from ramcharger is also good!!.
I personaly like the landing gear system, now a days I donīt bend it however at the beginig I did, It worked fine since nothing has been broken because of it ( it absorbs hard landing hits well)
I have in mine an OS 46fx, 12x4 and it is nose heavy, I have cg at 3 1/4 in. It holds knife edge and arobatics are nice in general however it is not as nice to land as at cg= 3 in.

even if you install a 40 size engine still will be nose heavy, I went throu that already!!

enjoy!!

I Plan on installing a 46, just havnt figured out if it will be an OS or TT.
Any other thoughts there? would be nice to pull out of a hover if I even get that far in my flying abilities.

Actually considering the Tower 46 since it seems to have the most H.P.

This is not to disappoint you,
since this kit needs lots of modifications
to be a good funflier (hovering etc.), check them in this
forum elsewhere....

Hisham.

Im sure that by the time I am ready to attempt some of the wilder manuver's I will have a new plane on the board just for that, but in the mean time I am thinking the Dazzler will give me some good experiance in alot of the basic and possibly more advanced moves to get me ready for that time. None the less I think this plane is going to be a blast to experiance, for sure wilder flying then I am ready for at the moment.
