I need a kit cutter!!!
Hey everyone, hope this is the proper forum for this.
I've got plans for two 80's pattern plans that I would really like kits for...
One is a Flying Model's Gitano 60, and the other is a McConville Designed Desire 60. Both of these plans are still readable, however have foam cored wings. I've sent e-mails to a few kit cutting places, tried to call them, I get answering machines and no replies... ever. I know with the ARF craze (yes I'm guilty to, I love my 27% H9 260) that kit building is not as popular... but doesn't anyone still possess the ability to cut a kit?!!? I've never cut a kit before, and since I don't have the room for a foam operation... Please... If you know someone in your club that's trustworthy, or know a business that wants some business... Let me know! I have no idea what it would cost to get a kit cut... I've seen most 60 sized models from some of the kit cutting websites between 150-200 bucks... so I guess that's what I'm looking at.
To sweeten the deal... I will provide copies of these plans to whoever cuts the kit for me... so you can have one too.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
Donivan

RE: I need a kit cutter!!!
Donivan,...
Wow,... you've chosen two of my favorite pattern planes!! I've had an interest in the Desire and Gitano 60 for quite some time. I've collected the parts and information on the Desire but unfortunately I never got around to building it.
I've got two sets of foam cores for the Desire (wing and stab). I'm not doing anything with these and wouldn't mind getting them out of my shop. If I recall I spent a hundred bucks on both sets so if you're interested make me an offer and they're yours.
The top of the Desire is a fiberglass shell from nose to tail. I've got a the name of a guy who used to lay up the fiberglass top for the Desire however I'm not sure if he's still doing that or not. Also there is a local (New Jersey) guy who built a couple Desires for hire he could give you more information as well.
As far as kit cutting,... if I were to cut the parts for one of these it wouldn't be anything more than just scratch building. Cutting one-off pieces as if I were building it myself.
Let me know if you are interested in any of this information.
