question about 4*60 kit...
I have a question about drilling the hole in the firewall for the throttle cable. I have the 4*60 with a Saito 100. I cannot find a optimal place where the plastic tube will fit through the firewall. I guess my problem is the carburator is so close to the firewall. I have loosened the set screw on throttle linkage, but still I cannot find that "optimal" position. Please feel free to submit pictures of what you guys have done to your 4 stars. Thank you,

question about 4*60 kit...
IndyFlyer,
I have a Saito 91 mounted on my 4* 60 and routed the cable on the upper-right corner of the firewall (when looking at the plane from the front. In order to get full throw I drilled a 1/4" diameter hole and glued a piece of plastic tubing inside about 1 1/2" long. On the inside I glued a small piece of balsa and drilled a hole to hold the cable tubing; I used a flexible throttle cable. This set up allowed the ball-link connector to move back into the firewall without interference.

Hi Guys - had a similar problem this weekend also.
I have the 4*60 with the Saito 91 mounted in it. I used the stock cable and tube and brought it out as shown in the pictures also. If your facing the nose of the plane, top right side of firewall.
We were breaking the engine in this weekend and found out because of how close the throttle arm was to the firewall I was not getting the throttle wide open. We determined this by simply applying finger pressure to the throttle arm. What happened though was the guy helping me told me to cut the throttle on the Tx, which I did, but he did not remove his finger from the throttle arm, resulting in the cable kinking at the servo end. End of Day
What I did to remedy this was to remove engine, motor mounts, and fuel tank. I purchased a what is called a 4 stroke throttle kit from my LHS and a 2-56 flexible gold-n-rod. I mounted the throttle kit to the side of motor mount, found the the best place to run the new tube (after removing the old ), got the tube and rod ran, did some checking and added the clevis to the servo end and the ball joint connector to the other (comes with kit). Mounted everything back up, double checked it, thread locked everything and tightened it all back up. I really like this set up. Seems much smoother and more reliable then the cable. I'm at work right now, but will take a couple of pictures tonight and post (much easier to understand). I went out to the field and fired it up last night and it ran like a champ as far as total throw needed on the throttle.
My 2cents (well maybe 50cents) worth, will post pic later.

question about 4*60 kit...
Same as GPutt33 but made a kit from a large hitec servo arm(mounted it on the engine mount beside the engine) and screws and push rod scraps. Cable goes through firewall, to one arm of Large servo arm, which is mounted on engine mount and spins on a screw, and push rod goes to other arm and then other end of push rod goes to throttle arm from in front.

Du-Bro 4 Stroke Throttle Kit
Here is a pic from the top. After I bought it, I could have saved a couple of dollars and made the same thing almost like 4*60 said he did.

Pic from the front
Sorry about the focus, tried to close, and it wasn't sure what to focus on I guess.
I don't know whats going on, but the thumb nail pic shows the same shot as above, but if you click on it it does show a front view. I've tried to edit the attachment about 6 times and it keeps coming back, kind of wierd.

Nice work gentlemen...
I will try to respond to all who have responded to me. Thanks guys!
mstroh3961 (Mark) - What angle are you talking about? Please rephrase your question.
vicar - nice craftmenship on your throttle cable housing.
GPutt33 - that's exactly what I needed to see. You are the reason why I put questions up like this...
4*60 - Your timely response will surely save me some dough. If you're ever in Indy, I'll buy you a beer!
Thanks all!

question about 4*60 kit...
I just finished a 4 * 60 and installed a saito. I had the same trouble so I made a u bend in the throttle rod and hooked it up from the front works great (no money spent).
