A little advise for a returning newbie
Hello, after about eight years I am returning to the hobby. I'm coming back after one of my colleagues starting talking about his latest build. A 777-200 with two turbines. That talk reminded me of the fun I used to have building and flying. I however, am now that adventurous as he is, and would like to begin again with what I have left over. Here is my question. I have a TT 46 Pro mated to a TT 46 Tiger Stick. I'll use that to learn to fly again. I have a Saito 65 that needs a home. Which airplane do you guys recommend? I used to have an Ultra Sport 40 that flew well with the 46 Pro until a friend augered it in. I like to build. I appreciate all advice on recommendations, and am anxious to get back to smelling balsa dust and CA fumes. I have a HITEC Prism7X that I'll be using.
Thanks,
JetLincoln

Double that on the Sig 4* I prefer the 60 only because you can see it better. When you build it -- bash it !! At least clip the wings one bay. It will handle like a dream !!!!!! Good luck

OK, I'll be the fist to ask.. What type of flying do you want to do?
With Tower blowing out the Lanier kits it's hard to beat the 40 size Stinger for $39

I have not built this kit so someone tell me if it's good or bad.

Jetlincoln,
You can still get a re-released US40 kit from Great Planes, If it were up to me, I'd build another US40 and put the Saito 65 in it. Good luck with your decision, and welcome back to the hobby!!!

RE: A little advise for a returning newbie
As far as the flying goes, general aerobatics were fun, nothing real spectacular or competition or anything like that. I think I would like eventually to get into something larger than 40 or 60 size, but I want to get used to it using the Saito 65 that I have now. I have been mulling over the idea of another US40. I had the TT46 Pro on the one I had before, what differences can I expect with the Saito 65?
Thanks,

go with the US 40 all the way!! the saito 65 would be great in it. I have a YS 63 in mine and just love it. On top of all that, it is a fun kit to build.

Jetlincoln,
The Saito 65 will turn a larger prop than the TT, and since it weighs more than the TT46, you shouldn't need as much dead weight in the nose if you build the US40 kit.

Thanks to all for the advise! I decided on the US40 and ordered it from Tower tonight. I even found a $10 coupon code which made the deal even nicer. I can't wait to get back to building, I think I enjoyed that as much as flying! By the way, they only have 5 left in stock, I know from some other threads that they are getting scarce.

Hi JetL! Who is your friend with the 777? If he is a builder, do you think he would like to take a hand in helping with the finish on a giant twin scale turbine? This will pay if he considers himself a pro or master. The job should not take very long, two weeks perhaps. E-mail me directly please, [email protected]. D. in Houston. Thanks!
