veteran car guy=newb plane guy
I am into rc cars and have built 4 kits. My uncle is a plane guy. He started building a piper cub about a year ago and i believe he only finished the wings. He wants me to finish it becuase he has no time. Im a little hesitant on doing this becuase if i mess something up that causes the plane to crash, i will feel guilty. He has all the necessary equpiment, engine, servos, covering, etc and just wants me to finish building it. What do you guys think, should i do it. Just looking for your opinion on this.

Building a plane from a kit is far from hard. Just carefully follow the instructions and read up on some tips and techniques. You'll be fine.

What cub kit is it? If it is a a Great Planes, Goldberg, Sig, etc. it's not difficult at all. Just follow the instructions to the letter and do everything you can to insure it's straight. You can always come here or to a local club with questions too.

You say you have already built 4 kits ? Whats the problem ? Cubs are generally pretty straight forward kits. The Sig brand were a tad more difficult. But for the most part a Cub is a Cub. Take your time. Read the instruction front to back a couple of times before you start. Go slow. Walk away if you need to think about something for a while.

Whats been said is true. If its a decent kit and you can follow instructions, you should do alright. I wouldnt worry too much about it crashing. He has enough faith in you to ask you so I can only assume he accepts responsibility if the expiration date is the same as the maiden date. It happens, all pilots know this. All you can do is your best and make sure the linkage and engine are setup. I'm sure he will double check your work anyway. And I assume he is doing the maiden flight. Go for it. It'll be a blast once you see it fly. You know the old pilots saying -
" If you cant fly, you drive" <g>!!!
Just a little gig there, couldnt help it!
