Default Give Me The Dirt!

Builders Extraordinaire,
Quick question, how do Ziroli builds compare to other builds (TopFlite, Sig, Byron…) as far as difficulty to complete? Tell me your stories!

Topflite, Byron, and Sig sell complete kits with instructions and even photos. Ziroli sells plans, doesn't he ? I don't think there is a way to compare a set of plans to a complete kit. There are kit cutters that will cut the wood for a Ziroli plan set. And there are cowls and part available from the fiberglass companies. But without a full set of instructions to lead you, I believe much depends on a persons prior experience.

I agree with PilotFighter. Scratch building from any plans takes a different skill set than building a kit. Ziroli plans are respected as some of the best out there and it would be hard to miss on getting a set of them, however it will take alot more time and you will need all the tools associated with scratch building. Good Luck, Dave

As with most plans sets, Ziroli expects you to know what you are doing, before the build is started. The instructions are minmal. No step by step photos.

Don't let this scare you, however. If you've built a few giant scale kits, you should be able to build a Ziroli design.

Tom,

That is a wonderful Stuka! Did you build it? I assume so. Do you have any more pix?

Great job!

Thanks, John. My Stuka was framed by Don Oleson. I glassed and detailed it. We painted it with WarbirdColors.

LOL! That's an understatment. I got a set of Ziroli B-25 plans and I think the instructions are one page. But if your scratch building the plans are the instructions.

Apples and oranges. Ziorli plans are for the scale builder too so they are A lot more detailed then any of the kits I have built. I even have A set of his plans from way back when, it's A 40 size Nieuport 28 and way too scale for A small plane build. Bigger is some time easier too!!
