Who Sells Kits?
Can Anybody tell me where I can get kits anymore. I know Tower sells a few but there choices are dwindling. Since I've
Been back into the hobby a little over a year. I have found no new places, even the ARF's are getting fewer. Is it against the rules of RCU for somebody to make a list of Good hobby shops(and what they sell). It probably wouldn't be a long one.
I am looking for a plane for a Magnum 52 rfs. I Have only found about 4 places that actually have planes, Including ARF's and the places that have several names.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

What type of model are you looking for? There are a fair number of kits around, but most are now produced by small niche market suppliers and you need to know where to look for them.

I really don't know what I'm looking for. I would really like to build a WW2 scale, Or any scale like, I just don't want a Stick, or a plank wing or a Floater like a Cub. I am really open.
Thanks for the web help Howard, Sig hardly has anything either, But I will check out your Site,, RCFU.
I am thinking about another scratch built.
Oh and as far as Proctor, I was Also checking out Another place with Some scale WW 1. But I told myself I would find a plane for this engine. I've already skipped it about 4 times.
Thanks again.

Consider building from plans. I know its not for everyone, but there is every type of plane imaginable. You also get to hand select the wood/ materials used and can modify to your hearts content.

Turbo, I don't mind building from plans but I have yet to find a good way to transfer to balsa.
Summerwind -I think you might have found me a plane. I like both the Newport 17 and the DR1.
I guess the .52 will get put back on the shelf again. Been Thinkin about getting a .70 anyway.
Really Nice looking kits exactly the size I was looking for. Probably call them tommorrow.
Hows Proctor-Enterprises sevice?

the owners name for Proctor is Joe Topper....his service is excellent and the nice thing is, he's a modeler..........if you need info, or have questions, he'll spend as much time with you as you need..........
here is a link to RCScale builder, and there are several VK builds going on there.........all you'll have to do is register just like you did when you joined here,

Yeah I think your right, Summerwind, The 52 four stroke should fly a 5 1/2 or 6 lb plane. Really like their kits, I shoulda asked a loong time ago. Now I need to read the build thread.
Thanks shd3920 Balsa USA was the other place I was looking for. Couldn't find it- all I could think of was House of Balsa.
They have some nice planes AND a Nieuport 17 thats my size.
Thanks for all the web addresses

RE: Who Sells Kits?
I've checked out the Top Flite kits at Tower and downloaded alot of the manuals. But they are a bit heavy for what I was looking for. I would get one if they had more in a smaller size.

RE: Who Sells Kits?
The easy trick to transferring the parts to wood is to make a true size copy of the parts templates, then carefully cut them out, and adhere them to the wood using a spray adhesive. Cut the parts, and suddenly, you have a kit. Best of all, the parts are not die-crunched, but are precisely cut, and you will take more pride in the model, since you did all the work.

RE: Who Sells Kits?
Radical RC sells Flair kits
http://www.radicalrc.com/shop/?shop=...20264&cat=150&
We've looked at the 'Harvard' which is a version of the AT-6. The description does point out that this kit is not "scale," but it looks a bit like the full size Harvard.

For some really good and unusual WWII scale kits, go to:
http://www.vanvan.us
They're laser cut, well engineered, and fly well

Thanks Stickbuilder, Thats how I usually scratch build. I would be nice if I had a printer that a sheet of balsa would fit (that was cheap).
Thanks to everbody for the replies sorry I am not online about once a week to answer.

Gee, just like it used to be before the super discounters evolved into existence. <G>
