mid star 40 lower rudder hinge attachment?
The plans show a Sig CA hinge with instructions to just stick a blade into the fuse and insert hinge. (The top 2 install into the vertica stab.)
Simple and maybe just fine; BUT that location is nothing more than the 3/32" Lite Ply fuselage sides meeting side by side. There is probably less than 1/32" of contact surface. I have not glued the sides together yet.
That seems like a pretty weak attachment. I'm considering making a tapered balsa block to fit inside maybe 2" high and 3/4" fore/aft with the end grain in contact with the sides using TiteBond type glue.
Need guidance on my first kit.

What i did works great, and if not i cut the piece out and glue a new one instead.

An interior balsa block will provide the support and I can retain the exterior ply.
I am glad to see you thought there was a 'Too weak link' in the design. I like the idea of plastic hinge as well.
