Sukhoi kit 80" that would work well with a 40 cc gas
Looking for a Sukhoi kit that would work well with 40 cc gas, probably about 80" 1150-1200 sq inches, 13-14 lbs. or close to this. Will consider arf too.
Thanks!

Look no further than the Hangar 9 Sukhoi. Seen too many people happy with them to consider anything else.
Bill.

Sig Sukhoi would work great with a 40cc gasser. Its wingspan is right around 77 inches. The Sukhoi's have a little wider chord line than most other aerobatic designs out there, so you end up with a smaller wingspan if you keep the total wing area the same as an extra or an edge.
I have the Sig Sukhoi flying on a FPE 3.2 gasser and it flies great. Ulimited vertical and will still land very slow. Total weight is right around 13-14 pounds, but I haven't weighed it in a while. I don't know of many kits for a sukhoi in this size range. You may be able to find a set of plans and build one from those. Good luck with whatever you decide.

h9 sukhoi
for a 40cc gasser? I don't want the 30-33% H9 Sukhoi, too big for me. Otherwise I'd be all over it. It looks very nice, flys nice from the videos we see here on RCU...........

sig sukhoi
We have a few of the Sig Arfs at our field, and they look very nice. One flier has the FPE 2.4, one has a U.S. 41 cc, and the one I like has a G-62.
Both of the smaller gas engines don't seem to have enough umph, but do fly the plane ok. The G-62 is probably a bit too much, but boy does it power through the maneuvers.

I wish.......
I wish SIG would make that Sukhoi in red and white, then I would probably buy one. I just don't like the color. I wish I knew if someone had one in the Minneapolis area that I could see fly, maybe then maybe I could get over the color.

Blue, Yellow and White
Wood,
I peeled all the covering off my Sig Sukhoi and replaced it with White base color and blue and yellow stripes. Looks great now. The stock colors are a bit different, but you will get used to them if you leave them. I ripped the covering off mine to repair the wing structure. It cost me a couple of rolls of covering and a weekedn to cover it but was worth it to me.

wood,
I am aware of 3 people in the Minneapolis area that all have the green colored sig sukhoi. I could probably let you know when one will be flown. A good friend of mine has a G-62 on his, and flies it about every other Saturday.

Recovered SIG Sukhoi
Wood,
Here is a small pic of what I call my "limited edition" SIG Sukhoi. I found this scheme on the web on both an Su-29 and a Su-31. I wish someone would make an Su-29 version. That huge two place canopy would really make knife edge flight interesting. All in all I have been happy with my Sukhoi purchase. After watching others fly their comparable sized Caps, Edges and Extras I think my Sukhoi flies just as nice or even better than anything in its price range. SIG did a pretty good job on this one once they fixed that little annoying problem of the wing folding up on them...
