Fiberglass and foam versions of the Tiporare, Illusion, and Dirty Birdy! In 1992 that was way, waaaaaay, too much airplane for the likes of me. Now that I can handle one they go for $700 on feeBay! Man I wish they still had the molds for those!

The molds were sold to Kitty Hawk Models, but they quit producing them long ago... I contacted KHM a few years ago, but the guy that owned it didn't seem too interested in giving me info, producing more kits, or selling the molds. He still has them, but who knows what condition they're in.

I'd buy a Tipo or Illusion immediately if they were re-issued (even tho I have 2 Curares and a Tipo already....).
Fxrs_tim...I believe his name is Paul and talked to him a couple of years ago...He was ready to sell the lot of them (all or none I think) including his Giant Scale Cap series (FG Fuse) and others...He is in Southern Indiana, If you are still interested, let me know and I will dig up his phone number if its still works and he is still with us...

LLD,

I'd only be interested in the pattern ship molds. If you can find the phone #, please send it. Maybe he's getting old enough to realize that he's not going to produce any more and may be willing to sell selected molds. Or, maybe even make one heck of a deal on the whole lot. I wonder what condition they're - if I remember correctly he said that they were "out in the barn".

Tim,

Check your PM's...The contact information was good as of March 2006 when I talked to him about it...

I know some other folks that he taught to fly pattern in the 70's and 80's...

I would be interested to know the outcome...

While covering the XFC for RCU in Muncie I had the chance to talk with a rep from Hobbico. I asked him about the Bonanza and his words were "If you want one, get it now."

That Bonanza kit makes an impressive model. I considered purchasing a kit recently but decided on the Great Planes Super Skybolt kit instead. D'oh!....

Guys, I just noticed that in 3 pages of discussion there hasn't been one mention of a Lanier kit. Are they that forgettable? Surely Lanier did something right in all those years of production?

CrateCruncher,

Since I'm a scale buff and have seen those already suggested TF Fw 190 & P 39 listed here I can't agree more with their return. However, (since I have both those Kits) no one has mentioned the Royal/Maratuka kits which included so many great planes. I would like to see some one return those to production.

Gerry
Gerry I agree! They were great builder kits if you didn't mind a little sanding. I heard someone mention a couple of years ago that the kits likely wouldn't return to production because they were "too small and heavy" for modern RC scale. While thats a fair knock, I still wouldn't mind building that Cessna Skymaster. At least the plans are still around.....

Lanier really weren't very good kits, A lot of plastic and some very odd stuff. They flew OK though. There were just too many kits that were much better designed and had better hardware and parts.
When Tower had that sale on there kits not too long ago I was wishing I would have bought A couple for myself. Then I read some of the builds and remember why I didn't care for them too much.
I wouldn't put them down too much, I just wouldn't want one if I had other choices.
Does that make sense without sounding too negative?????

Me too. Was going to build one of these in the future. Guess I'm out of luck. Not many GA kits around now days.

The Great Planes F4 Phantom and F14 Tomcat.
Never had the bucks while they were still around.
Ain't that the way it goes?

I started a poll on some planes that could be reissued by Hobbico. Check it out and vote if you haven't already.

All of the Bridi Trainer series models (T-20,40,60) with the fully symetrical wing. They build quick, were very strong and were a blast to fly.
I miss them......[]
