Default Tiger60 deluxe worth the effort?

I have the Tiger60 deluxe w/retracts kit. How does it build? Did you like how it flew?
I had a Tiger60 arf and liked it.

I have seen the tiger 60 flying. I believe it is a good second plane.

From building perspective, IMHO, I would learn to build with retracts with that kit. I am now building one scratch build ultra sport 60 with retracts. It is my first airplane with retracts and I am learning lot with it. This experience will help me to build my warbirds with more quality later on.

It is a good build with a great finished plane when you are done. The retracts really sport up the plane and are worth the effort. Good Luck, Dave

The Tiger 60 is a great first, second, third, forth - - - twenty fifth, etc plane!

Not a tough build either.

The reason I asked "is it worth it", is because I got the partially built kit in a trade.
The original owner did a poor job on the wing, so bad that it can't be used. A wing
kit will be needed. I did an inventory, and it's all there. I have an engine already.
Is this one worth the effort needed to get it together?

Do you have a way to trace and cut the ribs over balsa?

It really does not take that much of time and effort.

There are plywood parts specific to the retract install that are not shown on the
plans. I have several kits behind me, but no scratch building experience.
I've tried calling Tower's kit support line with no success. If I can't get a wing
kit, this project will be D.O.A.

I agree the easiest way is to get a wing kit with all pieces pre-cut.

However, if you cannot get your hand into one, maybe you can take ideas from other kits. For example, the ultra sport has two light play rib doublers in the ribs where the retracts are mounted. These doublers have the same shape of the rib's front section. That's were you glue a couple of tri-stock. These become the base for the retracts. The rest is cutting shaping the ribs where the tire will go in.

I am doing my first scratch build with a ultra sport 60. I have been reading how different models mount their retracts. At the end, I will follow whatever technique I see more practical and easy for me to do and maintain. There are many kits to look at in this sense. Remember, you always have the option of adapting newer ideas.

I found two Tiger 2 Deluxe kits at Extreme RC in Quarryville, PA. They were selling them for 199.00. I picked up one. Not sure if they ship. Give them a shout their phone number is (717) 284-0164, web site is http://www.xtremerchobby.com/.

Good luck
