Another Completed Sig Somethin Extra kit
Hey all.
Just a few pics of my recently finished SSE that I maidened today.
Not the best day for a maiden flight, 30k an hour winds, but it made landing fun
Did a couple of mods, the standed rudder and elevator mod, 2" on rudder and 1" on elevator both counter balanced.
Ditched the screw down attachment for the canopy hatch and used rare earth magnets instead (those things are great!)
Bolt on wings rather than the 'j' hooks.
Sullivan tail wheel and Coke bottle cowl.
I'll be using the Coke bottle cowl idea whenever I can, simple, easier than fibreglass and harder wearing than balsa.
She's powered by a Saito .72 with a 12x8 3 blade and Tru Turn spinner.
Climbed out really well on maiden and flew around with a fair bit of authority considering the head wind.
All in all a simply excellent plane.
Covering is Sig Aerokote Brilliant White, Ultracote Pearl White & Ultracote Magic Cyan-Violet with Profilm Yellow underneath.
The UC Magic film is a sight to behold as it changes colour from different angles from deep blue through green through violet all with a metallic/pearl hue.
Expensvie but different.
Pics don't do alot of justice as they were taken with my phone, but you get the idea.
Cheers

Krener,
Now that is a sweet looking airplane. It just might be my next kt. Could you detail how to do the mods you refered to? Some drawing of the rudder /elevator mod would sure help.
Thanks,
Larry
