Default Free control linkage and landing gear wire

Living 150 miles from the nearest hobby shop creates a problem when simple parts are needed for airplane construction. There is a "free" source of control linkage and landing gear wire if you can find a discarded bicycle. Save the spokes. They may even be threaded on one end and screw into plastic snap links. Spokes come in many lengths, diameters and degrees of flexibility. Use a cold chisel to cut the wire. The hardened wire could/will ruin the cutters of ordinary pliers. It may also take plumbers solder and flux plus sanding to join the hardened metal for landing gear.

Cool idea! I've got a couple old wheels lying around here myself.
