4 Star 40 and Thunder Tiger 42. It Screams!!
Awhile back I asked some of you about putting a Thunder Tiger 42 GP on a 4 star 40. Well, I did it and flew it today for the first time after several tanks on the ground to break in. Alot of you said it was a great little engine for the price and some of you said it was at the low end of the power range of the 4 Star. Well ,all I can say it that this combo is awesome! I put a 10x5 prop on it , not sure of the rpm . But this plane is fast! I never thought a little bushing engine would run like this. It idles perfect and from idle to wot it is smooth as silk. I had a 46 sf on my other 4 star and I swear this one is much faster. But I did clip the wing on this one, I just omitted one rib bay during the building process. Also I enlarged the rudder about 3/4 of a inch and use a cut down SE canopy. I plan on trying a 9x6 prop on the 42 just for kicks. Thanks to all the gave me some info on this great little engine. JT
