Are you wanting to surface mount them (with tops and arms sticking out), or hide them? I don't know how much scale detail means to you, but if you want to hide them, I'd recommend mounting them up in the cabin area and run a flex rod to the elevator, and a pull-pull setup to the rudder. If you want the cabin free for detailing, mount them on the underside, just behind the back seat, and make an access panel on the bottom, which will be almost unnoticed unless you turn the plane over. Less weight in the rear that way, and the longer control rod/wires shouldn't be a problem.

RE: Servo mounting /balsa 1/4 cub
I'll share some info I got here earlier today. One member had a balance problem. His plane was tail heavy. It was a Gee Bee or something and he mounted the tail feather control servos in the rear of the plane and figured he needed 8 oz. of weight in the nose. A member responded that one oz. in the tail may require 4 oz. , or something like that, in the nose to compensate. It made perfect sense to me. I would locate as much weight as possible close to the point of lift or balance point as possible.
