RE: Bud Nolsen Mr Mulligan
Well,I placed my order today for a RCGF 50cc twin. It was not in stock at this time but I was told they would be in in a couple of weeks. I guess waiting for what you really want makes it worth it. I should have plenty of time to do some finish sanding and fitting of the wing struts while waiting on the engine.

Here are my two. One was done as the Mister Mulligan, the other was finished as a Howard DGA 15. G-38 in the Mulligan and Quadra 35 in the DGA 15. Both great flyers. When you're ready for graphics for your Mulligan, contact Charles at CFC Graphics www.cfcgraphics.com He made mine and they were excellent. Easy to apply and fantastic quality.

Hi Moto... Am sat in the back ground watching your build... The wing spar and locating look just the job.. I see your going on the 50 twin.. I think i will go for the single 65cc. it's a good price here. I have just about finished a delta wing I was building so time to tidy up and get the bud dusted off. When I am ready I dont know whether i will use Sig Coverall or go on Solartex and then decal over. catch you soon

I have used Solartex before. Its very easy to work with. That is what I plan to use on mine. It is also very paintable so I will cover it in silver and take it to a friend of mine who is a great airbrush artist and have the scalops and trim painted in black. Good luck with yours. Post some pics for us too see.

RE: Bud Nolsen Mr Mulligan
A little more time to work on the Mulligan this weekend. I built the top hatch, fitted the windshield but not cut to size yet. I did get the wing struts done and moved the mount outside the fuse for ease of assy. I took some pics to share also. Note the firewall has this big square hole in it that was for a motor mount box to be built. I would rather close that in and mount the engine to the firewall but with the standoff mount I"m not sure what I will do. When I recieve the engine i will make a decison on how I will mount it.

Very, very nice![8D]
I will be following this, Tony, and am quite interested to see how the 50cc twin works out.
Have you decided what you will cover it with... colors?

Solartex. Silver with black scalloped trim is what I have envisioned. I know the white with gulf stickers is the norm but I just want something different I can call my own. If I could ask a favor of you, Could you give me a measurment from the motor mount tabs to the far end of the carburator off of your 50 twin?. Maybe I can get a mount figured out before the motor arrives.

Good color selection! Too much black, however, and it will wrinkle quickly in the sun. I agree that doing something out of the norm would be my inclination as well.
The new cowl is on the Pitts now so I can't get a direct measurement, but suffice to say it is just a smidge over 3 inches, say 3-1/4, because the standoffs are 3 inches and those carb bolts extend very slightly into (but not past) the firewall. Also, when the choke is open it extends a little farther, so 3-3/8" would be a good figure to start with. Next time I have the cowl off I will measure directly, but I'm sure that's VERY close.

Thanks for the info. I have used Solartex for trim and it didn"t seem to wrinkle at all in the sun. There won"t be alot of black but enough to break up all that silver. Believe me,it will be alot of silver.

I don't have a shop so I must go the ARF route, but even then I'm pretty quick. Got an AW Yak on Wednesday and maidened it Sunday, although it was ready to fly Saturday!

I only build in the winter. I have several arfs and like them just fine. Sometimes I get an arf and personalize it a bit just to feel I have something to do with the look. I have to admit, their is alot of pride taken in building from plans. The butt pucker factor is quite high the first few flights. But when you get her to your liking, its all worth it.

Bob, I just recieved notice from Henry that the 50cc twin will be shipping to me today or in the morning. I can"t wait. I have been sanding and sanding and on and on. Fitting and gluing and all the good stuff. I"m so ready to move on to another part of the build. Mounting the motor and fitting the cowl gives me light at the end of the tunnel.

I am looking forward to seeing the end result, but the whole process is extremely interesting.
Getting the engine mounted is a big step - you know you're getting there![8D]

Well, check this out. Recieved the engine, studied on the mount and here is what I came up with. I use some texalite composite to make standoffs and a backup firewall block to tie it all together. This is solid as a rock.

Excellent solution to the problem!
My only observation is that once the fuse is sheeted it appears the stand-off bolts will be hard to reach. Maybe reverse the bolts so that the nuts are on the engine mounting flange end??

RE: Bud Nolsen Mr Mulligan
Thank you Gageebees, Bob,I had the same thought after I had it mounted. So after looking it over and over I think I will just make the top of fuse a detachable hatch for easyer access to rear of carb, fuel lines and ignition battery just in front of the windshield. If I would have put the bolts in the other way I would still have to have access to the bolt heads if engine had to be removed.
