Default Pete n Poke Wing Incidence

I am building a Great Planes Pete-N-Poke and have a question on wing Incidence. In the directions it talks about +1 degree wing incidence. I do not have a Incidence meter at this time so I was wondering if I use a 4' level across the struts from front to back is it at +1 degree with the bubble riding the edge of the level mark on the leading strut?

Thanks

Jim,

With a 48" level. 1 degree is about 0.8" slope from one end of the level to the other. That is, the front of the level will be that much higher than the rear.

Stated differently, the bottom of the leading edge of the wing is just about 1/4" higher than the trailing edge.

I'll check this tonight when I get home if I don't have to many honey do's. I have been using the bubble on the level to try and figure this out. Now that I know a +1 degree of incidenece is 1/4" from leading to trailing edge I'll just messure this once I get the wing level from tip to tip.

Thanks for your help

Jim,
Build the struts without any incidence. (flat) Put a 1/16" shim on the front strut to get the 1 degree incidence. If this isn't going to be the only kit you'll ever build, do yourself a favor and part with a few bucks to buy an incidence meter. It's worth the money.

Great looking Pete-N-Poke George. I only hope mine comes out as good as yours. I am looking into covering mine in the same cream color you choose with insignia blue trim.

Thanks for the information. I'll look into doing the wing in the manner you suggested, it sounds easier to just at 1/16" on the leading strut to get the +1 degree the plans call for. I have the great planes wing incidence meter on order from Tower Hobbies. It was on sale for only $19.99

Again I Thank both of you for your help.

What size engine do you have on your Pete-N-Poke? I plan on put a New Mecoa 46 I have on mine using a Hitec Flash 5 Radio and gear.

How did you get the 1+ degree incidence on your wing? Did you us a 1/16" shem on the leading edge?

Thanks

jim,
The 46 will be fine for your Pete.I'm using a OS46FX seems about perfect to me.I originally had a OS 40LA on it and that was NOT enough power.
I set the incidence on my wing while building up the cabane structure using a propeller protractor, borrowed from work. The shim idea will work fine as well.If you need to change it( I didn't)just change shim under leading edge.I wouldn't worry about it too much, just get as close as you can.Enjoy it

George

Thanks for the feed back. I do appreciate your input on the wing incidence and I set mine up last night using the 1/16" shim on the leading strut after I had it straight and level.

I'll be flying it next week end and I'll put feed back on this site after I have test flown it. I'll also input a pic of the plane.

Thanks
