RE: Sig Kommander Plans
tailskid,
Thanks. I built one in the 70s. I remember the canopy being a challenge. It was removable and attached with the wing. The fuse was box-shaped with triangular longerons rounded over. The instruction book is just not enough.

If you don't mind going a little smaller, Sig still carries the Kavalier kit. It is hard to find a hobby shop that carries it though. From what I have read the Kavalier is the smaller version of the Komander.

The Kavalier is similar to the Kommander but is smaller.
Thanks for helping out,

wing is a bit different in shape. the kavalier i think is a constant chord. I had a kommander that i put the gear where the kavalier does and it did get often confused for it.

No, the Kavalier is not a constant cord. Leading edge tapers back and trailing edge tapers forward. Thicker at the root also.
I can see why you want the Kommander, the Kavalier is a good flying plane.

It has been a long time but I dont remember any plans with it. I remember cutting out the printed wood and I think you use the lines on it to build it. 1983 so it was a long time ago. You just squared the bulkheads on the top deck where the printed lines were added the sides lining up those lines and add bottom sheeting. I think there was only a manual.

I have the complete set. In fact, I have been using them recently to... maybe... someday... complete the build I started 26 years ago when my first born started to walk and I had to put it up. I still have all the pieces required to build new.

Do you still have "plans" for the Komander that you were building when this was last posted? I want to create a complete set for my "soon to complete" MK1 version. It's 80% assembled but I don't recall that kit containing any plans; most parts were printed direct to the balsa sheets. I believe the MK 2 Komander had more plywood / less balsa in the fuselage construction. TX.
