Kit builders for hire ?
Are there any reasonable kit builders for hire out there located within a reasonable driving distance to Kentucky ?
I've built many planes before, but simply don't have the trime at this juncture in life...and I'm dis-satisfied with the selection of ARf's out there to bash at the moment.
I've found a couple of kit options, and would be interested in finding out what it would cost to get a .60-1.20 plane built to the point where I could finish her up (meaning built-up but not glassed) or in an ARC/ ARF state of completion.
Obviosly things such as type & complexity would be a potential factor in determinung the cost, but I'd like to see who's out there.

Whats the time frame and what airframes are you looking at? I may be interested after I finish my current project. I am just east of Cincinnati.

Anthony,
I really don't have a time frame per-se. I realize these things take quite a wile, in fact I still have a TF P-39 90% done after several years of work.
But hopefully, it wouldn't takke that long. You're a great short drive away.
There are 3 planes I've been thinking about. Which would are in no particular order:
Do 335
TBD Devestator
F5f Wilcat
I have plans for both the Wildcat & Do.335, but I'd probably order a kit from kit cutters or something, no matter which one.
I'm probably most interested in the TBD Devestator or Wildcat.
All the info on these planes can be found on the Kit Cutters website.

Which designer do you have plans for? I am assuming you want the plane framed up servos, control rods, retracts installed and ready for fiberglass?

Anthony, I
ve got the Al master's Do 335, and I can't remember who the Wildcat [plans were drawn by, they sre for a .60-.90 size engine,, I bought the plans on RCU.
maybe if you have some time later we can talk via phone and discuss

I saw the devestator kit on kit cuters, but it doesn't say who did the plans.

NoFlaps, You fly at Tom Sawyer Park? It has been over 10 years since I flew there, seems there would be someone there that would take on the job.
When I flew there at the old airstrip, cars would be lined up from one end to the other on weekends. When we lost that due to a housing development, seems a lot of guys just didn't go over to the new strip. I flew the new strip a couple of times, Take offs and Landings were a major PITA with all of the bumps.
I still visit every once in a while, but haven't had a plane with me.

Yes, I'm at Tom Sawyer park.
We have a club meeting tonite and I'll ask if anyone is interested in a build, but most of those guys know I build (or used to) so , they'll all think I'm just being lazy (which perhaps I am) but actually, I'm super swamped for the next year and know I won't have the time.
Our paved runway is as smooth as can be now...Stop in and say hello~ I'm the guy with all the warbirds.
Durring the summer, I'm out there at least 4 days a week.
