Default What kinda plane is this?

A guy gave me this kit with no info. It looks like a yak to me. Just wanted more opinions. It has a 47” span.

Well, it looks like a low wing monoplane. Could be a Yak but I think it looks more like an Extra 300S.

Looked like a 260 to me too. I saw you posted looking for plans for it too. You would need to know who made the kit it and when or about when. If you are looking for the templates for the missing ribs you would be out of luck even if you had the plans, they don't show them as side views on kit plans, only plans designed to scratch build show ribs and formers most the time.

Do you have the cowling or canopy? That would help in identification. From the looks of it I'd say extra 260 since its mid-wing. I dont recall any full-scale mid wing single seat extra 300S. Although the early 300L was mid-wing yours appears to be a single seater which also makes it hard for it to be a Yak. Also, the front of the fuselage would be round if it were a Yak since they had radial engines with round cowlings.

Free opinions are worth what you pay for them.

Ok Tony, it looks like it's still in pretty good shape and almost finished, just needs a little work to get it back up. If you go over to Nice Twice Hobby Shop sometimes Denny will have some canopys, cowls and landing gear for it. If not then one of the two good after market figerglass places will probably have what you need.
