park servos as aleron servos
Hi, haven't been building in quite a while and am starting to finish my great planes mustang 40 kit. I just looked on line and saw that they have made many improvements on servos latley. I have seen the gws park flyer servos that have more torque and speed than my old airtronic standard servos. Do you think that they are strong enough for single aleron servos? any coments would be apprechiated.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know that I'd use them as a single aileron servo. In a dual servo setup the more robust ones (42oz and 56oz) ones would probably work well. The thing to remember about these servos is that although they have the necessary power, their gears are a lot smaller and thus are more prone to stripping.

Exactly... I had hitec hs81's (2) in the wing of my 4star .40 but they coulnd't take much abuse.. the diameter of the gear is smaller and thinner as well as Tim says and thus fewer teeth are in contact with each other. I switched to standards.

In addition to the "tiny gear" issue, some of the micro servos are not intended to handle the vibration of glow powered models.

What they have said is right on the money. Yes, they may have the torque higher, but there is less physical material in the servo itself. This will make the servo easier to break when you start putting loads on it. Stick to the standard size servos in your plane.

Thanks for all the replies. I was thinking the same thing. I have even seen standard servo gears snap on my friends plane when he hit down hard. I would think the smaller ones would be even less durable.

I have been told the HS-81mg's should be ok on a 40 sized plane, but again, I have my doubts, but out of curiousity I have ordered some and will give them a hard run on my "wise guy" tail-less plane, should be quite interesting
