Servo Noise
Hello to all, Im in the process of installing my servos on the elevator / rudder assembly, for my elevator im using a hitec 645bb and am getting a intermitent humming noise. As I move the control stick up and down it some times hums when it centers. I have looked at the push rod for binding but it does'nt appear to be any. This is a 1/4 scale cub (Balsa Usa) and the elevator is not small or the lightest ive built. When I disconnect the pushrod it stops.. Could this be just from the wieght of the entire assembly? Any opinions as always are welcome.... Thanks Carl

RE: Servo Noise
It could be, but it's not any real concern.
Hook up the elevator, move it until the hum starts, then gently tap the elevator up and down to see if it stops. If it does (and it should) don't worry about it.
People tend to get overly concerned about things like this, but look at it this way:
Any surface that does this will stop doing it as soon as the engine vibrations start. PLUS, how many airplanes are out there that have a tiny bit of trim added to any control surface? Lots right? Well, when that plane is moving through the air at 60mph, the air is pushing against that surface, which transfers the load to the servo, which causes the servo to hum...
But you can't hear it at 500 feet.
