RE: AMR Giant Stick 50
Hello all,
Last week end, I had the opportunity to make 2 flights with Michel's production plane.
I was very impressed with the speed range of the plane and also qualities of the plane throughout that speed range. It can go as slow as you want. The motor is also a perfect match. You can always go bigger but I can tell you the plane does all I was able to imagine with that little 55. It was also very easy to land and take off.
I was a bit skeptical about power because this plane is literally as big as a 35% aerobatic plane and these planes typically fly with 85 to 100cc engines.
While I am more into 3D and IMAC, I had lots of fun flying this beautiful ugly stick .

My Stick 50 kit is being shipped today. It will be a product review on R/C REPORT Online.
If you do the math, it looks like the wing chord is 26" or so, including ailerons.
If traditional covering material (Monokote UltraCote) is used, I guess I'll have to piece the covering on the wing tips.
I'll be using one of the new RCGF 55cc engines when they are released in July.
Gotta go stock up on Titebond!

It was a very busy weekend. I framed up the fuselage last week and built a wing panel and the tail stuff over the weekend.
Did any of you builders also run out of 3/8" balsa sticks.
Did you find all of the WSW3 and WSW4 parts (there needs to be 4 of each)

RE: AMR Giant Stick 50
Now that my Stick 50 is done, here' s an update to the main gear mount that has to be made.
From Michel at AMR:

Dick, try to install a small aircraft ply under the fuse and between the gear, because the gear is in two parts the actual bottom fuse crack in the middle between the gear on hard landing. We test fly our lot of time, nothing happen, but we lend our aircraft to others club members , one just drop the Stick very hard on landing. To prevent this to happen, we redesign the gear plate in aircraft grade and other way with cross member ply.
Too late. I'll have to do something else.
Anyone got some ideas?

Maybe you can put a piece of 1/4 aircraft ply between the fuse and the gears?
All bolted together will make the assembly stronger for sure!

Hi , we are cutting replacement parts and ship to customers, for one who already built the fuselage , another solution is to install a 1/4" ply aircraft between the gear and fuse bottom.
Sorry about this situation, the new series are already update .
Feel free to ask more informations

RE: AMR Giant Stick 50
Here's what I did last night.
I cut a piece of 1/4" aircraft plywood 4" by 7" and rounded the edges and corners.
I measured all the bolt holes and drilled holes to re-mount the gear legs.
I then covered it with Matching UltraCote and used it as a pattern to cut away the covering on the fuselage bottom.
I used 30 minute epoxy to glue the part to the fuselage making sure to keep the epoxy from the bolt holes.
The gear legs, when tightened down, act as clamps to keep the part in place.
It should work just fine.
(and yes, I will use lock washers on those bolts!)

Mr Pettit
We are very glad you appreciate this design, our designer did an another one much bigger 120" for 75 to 120cc engine, finish weight near 29 pounds with a DA85cc engine
We already think of a low wing stick for 50 or 75 to 100 cc ...

RE: AMR Giant Stick 50
I have been looking at the stik 50 (I have the GP giant stik with over 150 flights on it and the bigger stik 50 sounds great)
I would also be interested in a giant low stik 50, is there plans to produce a low stik ?, if so, whats the time frame ?
