RE: WHAT IS THE BEST ENGINE FOR AN ULTRASPORT 1000????
Gas or nitro?
The OS 160 weighs 32.8 oz and the muffler is 9.7 for a total of 42.5 ounces. Next the fuel tank size. The OS 160 does not sip nitro; therefore, a 20oz tank is probably the way to go.
For me, gas is the better choice.
There's a gasser designed in the USA and built in the USA:
Engine Weight (less ignition, but including muffler): 31.28 ounces (887 grams)
Total Engine Weight w CDI and Mount: 38.18 ounces: (1082 grams)
The 30cc Syssa motor would haul the mail on this plane - http://www.syssaaircraft.com/sap.html
Also, I can run a 12 oz fuel tank and get about 15 minutes. One one battery for the RX and Ignition by using an electronic kill switch. 1500 MaH A123 battery (more than enough) would do it with one on/off switch. My weight penality would be minimum at best, if any at all.
If anyone knows where I can get one of these kits , please send me a PM
Thanks
Chuck

I too have 30 plus flights on my us 1000. I run a super tigre 2500 with a 16/10 apc. A guy had radar gun at the field one night and clocked mine at 104 mph straight at us.I run the tail dragger set up with century jet air retracts, 2.25 inch tires. 14 oz tank of 5% give me about 15 min flights if I'm not on the go stick all the time.Love this plane.
