Four Star .60 motor.
I am currently building the kit and will need an engine. I am a 4 stroke guy but $300+ bones for an engine that may eat terra firma doesnt sound like something I want to do. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: Four Star .60 motor.
my 4* 60 came out 8.25 lb and powered by OS 91 FX and its flying well, i believe OS 75 ax will do well too.
i also had to put 2 oz of lead in the nose.

The Magnum 91 four stroke is on sale for $160 for the blue valve cover one right now. This would be excellent on the Four Star

I agree with FlyingPilgrim, I had a Super Tigre .90 and it was a great combo. You can't beat the price and great power. Don't buy a used 4 stroke, I know a lot of people who have been burnt!

You couldn't go wrong with this engine. I have flown and totaled two 4*60's both had the same engine, a Mag 91 four stroke. After several really hard knocks and twice being in full throllte dive into the ground, I finally decided to replace the bearings on the engine. When I tore it down, it was like new inside, other than the front bearing was a bit noisy.
You cant do better for your money than that engine. It pulls like a tractor and is as reliable as the come.

I currently have a Magnum .52 in my Kadet LT-40 and love that motor, so to me the Magnum .91 was my first choice. The problem is, I cant find one!

Ok, I was looking at the OS.75 that Nergall is suggesting and looked a little further down on the Tower site. Tower .75 for under $100. Did some searching and most folks like the Tower .75. I'm also eyeballing the ST .90 some of yall are suggesting. Just thinking outloud here and my first thoughts would be the ST.90 would be too big and heavy. But the 4* builds tail heavy anyway. Im sorta leaning towards the Tower .75. Anybody have that motor?
And thanks for the help guys.

Hey,
Is fly my 4*60 with the OS 91 two stroke and enjoy flying it already for many years. It's pretty fast with it and can do various tricks, including torque roll.

One very common issue with the 4*60 is that it is tail heavy. I had to add close to 10oz of lead to balance mine. If you need to add 10 oz, it might as well be motor weight and get something in return

I'm sure You know this but the ST 75 and the ST 90 have the same weight.

RE: Four Star .60 motor.
Hello; I have a new (unfinished) 4 star 60 which I will comlete soon, I have many engines available for it; Enya 80 4S, Saito 65 or 80. OS 90 FS. I hve an old 4* with the OS 90fs in it that I flew for 6 years before I broke the tail off (3 times). I should repair the old one but it has seen lots of fuel, and I have a new one I recieved as a gift.
I think I'll use the Enta 80 FS, since I have no experience with it, but I have come to trust Enya engines. Increase my expiereince base.
I think the 4* just cries out for a four stroke and a big prop.

RE: Four Star .60 motor.
I will go with the more expensive 4 stroke when I build the second kit I think. Most likely this plane will end up in the hands of a friend who prefers tons of screaming power and cant build an ARF to save his life. And as everybody most likely knows, the second build of the same kit comes out much better than the first which will be my plane after I finish the Eaglet 50 with the os .30 fs.
I'm currently collecting kits for the off season to build which is opposite of most of yalls. Winter is great here but summer will kill you! lol

RE: Four Star .60 motor.
The Saito 125 is sorta over doing it for a Four Star 60 but the engine will actually fit in there just fine.
I have a Saito 125 in my H9 Twist 60 and it is a pleasure. I don't usually go past half throttle unless I'm going straight up.
I also have a Saito 125 in my You Can Do 60 and it does very well also. The engine fits the plane like they were intended for each other.
I have three other Saito 125's for planes too.

RE: Four Star .60 motor.
it seems the Saito 100 would be a better fit, right?
I was just thinking of selling the 125 & replac it with the 100... just trying to get some sorta reassurance on the decision!
