Hi

It is an older kit, 80s and 90s kit.  Good flyer, but will snap quick if you get it to slow.  Build it light  as you can, dont let it get slow !

ATV,

Here's a picture of my GPCap 21. I fly it with an older K&B .61. It's fast and fly's great. I built it with a bit of washout in the wing tips and used a different dural landing gear. The built up balsa cowl was the only difficult part of the build. I didn't like the cowl and just fly it without it. As vpresley say's, it will snap if you get it too slow or if your cg is too far back.

Good luck with the build.

Scott.

I just bought one off of the bay, I still have the tower catalog from 1980's with it listed. I know I'll end up doing a build thread on it as well.

That cowl can increase its speed - we have two identical ones and the one without the cowl was 10% (a guess) slower. And yes, that cowl was a bit of work   DON"T let the build go tail heavy - sand, sand, sand that tail area

They might have updated the kit, just crusing the tower catalogs and the original must have had a balsa cowl, the 1993 catalog states it comes with abs cowl and wheel pants. I guess in the early 80's it had all balsa construction, in the early 90's it changed over to abs componets for the ease of building. I'll have to check to see if fiberglass specialties carries an epoxy glass cowl.

Yup, they carry the cap 21 cowl, wheel pants and the canopy too. I guess I should call and find out for what vintage it's molded after. I need to order a few parts from them anyway.

Default 60" mudry Cap 21

ATVFMX... I know this is a really old post. I have this same airplane which I picked up used at the local hobby shop... Mine is also 60" but appears to have a fiberglass cowl. If you or anyone else knows the C.G. of this model as well as the control throws, please let me know. I'd love to have pictures of the manual.

If anyone else could help, i'd appreciate it. Mine is all balsa built with non foam wings. I hear there are different versions.

Thanks everyone...

I wish Great Planes would bring back their Cap 232 value series. Now that was a great flying airplane and didn't do anything stupid.
