Two big wheels, one little - real plane Check the beginners forum for a lengthy recent discussion on this..... Less linkage to mess with. I like 'em.

i had a tiger 2, converted it to a taildragger after messing around with linkages becoming sloppy after taking a beating. I was flying off grass. then I converted it to a taildragger using the same wing blocks and bending new gear legs. I just used a castoring tailwheel. no servo feedback, ease of setup, and I enlarged the rudder for hovering anyway, so with 45 of throw, you could still taxi with a tailwind. its also real easy to fly as a taildragger. Because of the long tail, it sits at a low angle, so that reduces the five nasty tendencies taildraggers have.
Enjoy

Hay mullenc525 How about those five nasty tendencies, what are they?

BTW everyone!!
I just converted an avistar to TD and put a bb 46 pro on it. Way to heavy for wing loading but it will go straight up out of site, and out of site very quickly!!!
Its extream for sure, just wanted to share the excitement

Miloh.

i cant exactly remember them all. Unless you fly full scale youd never hear of 'em. Hmm- P factor(both prop blades meeting relative airflow at different angle with t/w down- use left rudder) spiralling slipstream- depending on t/w up or down, slipstream may push left or right on fin, gyroscopic effect- when you rotate, and when tailwheel comes up, the gyro effect of the prop yaws the a/c and i cant remember the rest. basically you get taught this stuff in ground school and when your taking off in a taildragger you forget it all and just think "use the rudder to keep on center"
you guys probably thought I was lying about the 5 tendencies sorry i cant remember the rest

mullenc525:

1 can't pull them all out either, but except for P-factor and the tendency to ground loop, they all affect planes with training wheels too.

And if you try to pull the nose wheel off too soon P-factor can get a trike too.

Bill.
