I don't know guys.......

This one probably has a "Dash" and is definitely "Drive-able"........

Because I haven't found the wood yet I may make the "Instrument Panel" out of a piece of Carbon Fiber plate. I have made a panel using Carbon Fiber before and it worked out fairly nice. Who knows, it is still "Up in the air".

Here is my previous panel in my Edge 540.

I think SDP is looking for a nice grain structure rather than just the wood.

I may have to drive down there. I have purchased wood there before. You are correct, they are probably the best source of wood around. I was just trying to avoid the drive.

SDP, here at my LHS they have some nice Walnut, Mahogany and Cherry sheeting in stock. The dimensions are 3"x24" with a thickness of 1/32", 1/16", 3/32" and 1/8". If you are interested I would be happy to send it down to you.

Hmmm, I'm now wondering if Hounddog has kin out here by the name of Coondawg. They sound eerily similar.

Do you have a web site? Are you a retail store?

Pete sorry for the confusion, when I said "my" local hobby shop had the sheeting I didn't mean that I owned the hobby shop!

There are many online suppliers of wood veneer, to use on instrument panels. Some are reasonably priced. Others are quite exotic. http://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid...w=1440&bih=785

Instruments, and other cockpit do dads, are available from I Fly Tailies. http://www.iflytailies.com/

Tom,

Those are the type of "Dash" I am hoping to create.  I really like the look of some highly figured wood vs something plastic.

Thanks for the link.

Some of the burl veneers aren't too expensive. I find that the lighter colors show up better than the dark.

Unless you get into machining control knobs, it is fairly easy to construct a nice IP.
