I maidened my King Kobra yesterday and all went great. A very old OS.61 for power.
I haven't built a kit in quite a while and this one had been started by someone that didn't know that the fuselage isn't supposed to be banana shaped. I was able to cut it apart and straighten the fuse. The canopy and turtle deck were both warped pretty bad so I just did the best I could.
I put SpringAir retracts in it with gear doors.
It looks a little rough up close but looks great in the air.

a little rough is where most builders start. i love the retracts. the plane looks like a lot of fun. can we see a close up of the nose gear door workings?

Here are a couple pics. My setup works great for one cycle of the gear. Sometimes when I try to retract them a second time, the nose strut will foul on one of the doors. I need to spring load the doors open somehow but I haven't found a good setup yet. If I come up with something I'll post it.
Sorry about the pic sizes. Make sure you scroll all the way over to see both pics and open the attachment. These are the instructions for a gear door hing set from Sonictrinics. I used some of the parts from the kit. Mainly the part they call the wavey wire form. In the pic it's the part with duct tape around it. I was trying to stiffen it up so that it would open the doors more positively, but it doesn't work real well.
